We're looking for passionate foster youth leaders to become advocates for change in the foster care system. As a youth advocate, you'll have the opportunity to engage with policymakers, participate in advocacy events, and make your voice heard on issues that matter to you and your peers. Training and support are provided for all new advocates.

Beyond The System is a great opportunity for foster youth in high school and post-secondary education to explore creative writing, receive feedback from judges, and potentially earn a monetary award ($250 for 1st place, $150 for 2nd place winners in each age category). More specifics, such as the writing prompt, page limit, AI use, and judging rubric, can be found on the website. Please make sure participants review these guidelines!

High school and post-secondary students that are interested in submitting to the contest should fill out the interest form here. Future emails regarding contest deadlines and reminders will be sent to the respondents of the form. The contest runs from 4/3 to 5/20, and the winners will be announced on 6/20. Students can submit their writing pieces at this link.
