e-Portfolio SMART Goals: Vilvestre Juaquin

Specific: My specific goal for this term is to get a higher average in terms of scores than last year's Grade 8 Math.

Measurable: I can measure this goal using both my PRF's in Grade 8 1st term and Grade 9 1st term to see and compare my grades. I could get the average of both years, or compare how many times I failed last year and this year.

Attainable: I am sure I will be able to achieve this goal if I take my studies more seriously, and listen well during synchronous classes. That means actively listening during class and taking down as much notes as possible. If I study my lessons in Math well, I would obviously get a good grade in my quizzes. I also need strong determination and great focus to do this. If all these are to be applied by myself, then I will get much higher scores than last year.

Relevant: This goal is important for me, because they will not only help me in the future, but will also have a positive effect on my mental health. Good grades, especially in Math will make my parents proud, and make me proud of myself since I know I did my best. Good grades in Math will also open up job opportunities for me and will help me when enrolling for senior high.

Time Bound: I plan to execute my plan and goals throughout not just the 1st term but also the other terms. I have already started this since the 1st week of classes, and I will definitely acheive my goal if I stay focused and apply good traits. By the end of the term I should have had a better mindset and better grades than last year's 1st term.

e-Portfolio SELF Evaluation: Vilvestre Juaquin

This year's 1st term is definitely harder than last year's, more homework and more pressure. I did not expect this and I had a rough first start but thankfully I got back up. There were new assesment types such as Oral Test, and these have definitely given fear to me, but I am proud to have finished these. I have kept my Smart Goals at heart and if I continue in the same spirit I will be successfull. Although, I need to take more notes, my overall self evaluation is positive. Lastly, my grades so far are better than last year's in my terms.

Smart: Fortunately, I can say I am doing well so far with my grades, and I am definitely taking my studies more seriously. I actually study my lessons more unlike last year, and I am proud to have changed. I also take more notes and do exercises in my notebook. So far my grades have been better than last year.

Measurable: So far I think I am using my PRF to good use, I can easily input and see my grades so far in Grade 9 and it makes easier to measure how well or bad im doing. I also check and compare my grades time to time from last year and this year. I also compute my average for my grades and I am able to see what letter mark I have so far. I also check how many times I have failed something and make sure I redeem myself. I see this being completed by the end of the term.

Attainable: I can say that I have acheived these so far. Im happy to say that I pay more attention in class now and take our discussions to heart. I take more notes and try to do extra exercises to practice. With all these saying, I think I have been more focused and determined with my quizzes and homework. I see this as a completed goal.

Relevant: My goal's importance has stuck true with me and I can that this is completed so far. The farther I progress the more I see on why it is important. I have not lost focus or slacked so far in Math. I strive for my best in subjects and in everything I do. Everytime I feel lazy, I remind myself of why I am doing this and get myself to just do it.

Time Bound: So far during the 1st term I have done well and stuck to my Smart Goals. Like I said, I have not lost focus or importance over time, and I am steadily acheiveing my goal in the time limit. If I succeed I plan to continue my attitude for the coming years. I see this goal as completed.

e-Portfolio MOST Challenging Task/s: Vilvestre Juaquin

For me the 1st Oral Exam was the hardest and most nerve racking assesment so far. The items were easy if you solve them, but what made it hard for me was the pressure of being live. I suddenly get nervous when being called so I stuttered a lot during this. This was the hardest task for me, because it pressured me the most among all of my tests, and I also had a hard time with radicals during that time. To sum it up radicals + oral live exam= my hardest task. I would have definitely done better here if I practiced my reciting skills. Being clear and calm when reciting will not only help me at Math, but also in other subjects. I can practice this by reciting more in class. Another way to improve myself during Oral Exams is to study the lessons well, if I am able to keep calm was viewing the questions as easy, then I will get a good score during Oral Exams.

e-Portfolio Misconception/s: Vilvestre Juaquin

1. The most confusing misconception I saw and still see sometimes is the square, 5th, 4th and cube roots of Simplifying Radicals.

2. The misconception occurs when I face exponents in radicals. I think that it simply means the factor or multiple of that radical. I also confuse myself saying that square root is the same as cube root. Whenever it is cube root I confuse myself by finding the perfect square. I am confused on why this radical became that judging whether it was a square or cube root.

3. I discovered this misconception when I answered the photo output and edpuzzle for Simplifying Radicals. My solutions were wrong mostly because of what I do with the exponents. The edpuzzle confused me a bit because my answers and solutions were different and my answers were wrong. I had a difficult time answering my photo output because of this misconception. I was able to get through with this obstacle by studying the guide videos and taking notes during class. Youtube videos also helped me a lot on clarifying this misconception. From my studies I learned of the perfect square and root table. This table heavily helped me in identifying the different between the square root and cube root and now I find it easy to solve. I learned that the square root and cube root tables, were different and had different numbers to check whether we will apply the perfect square or cube root number.

I am very happy to say that my Oral Exams after my First Oral Exam (hardest task) represents my best work in this term. For the first time, I finally did a task that I had high knowlege in and confident with. I fixed my speaking and studied very hard for this topic. My hard work, determination, and confidence in this task has made myself proud. I explained my parts well and I answered my question to. All of these lead me to the conclusion that Oral Exam #2 is my best work, because of the hardwork and confidence that I redeemed from Oral Exam #1.

During these Group Works, I was the reporter of group #1 in my section. I made sure that our answers were correct before passing by personally solving them on my own. I contributed well to my group by submitting my parts on time and being punctual during meetings. Our communication was very good and we easily contacted each other to schedule meetings. We helped each other through team work and cooperations and I can say we got good grades. We shared and compared our answers during group tasks. If one of us did not get the lesson or how we got this answer, we always try our best to explain until he got it. I am very happy with my groupmates and I can easily cooperate with them. We developed good teamwork and we easily get the job done and early before the deadlines.
