Summary:
Offred sits by her window, just looking at the night, when she sees Nick, and he sees her. They don´t make a movement or say anything, they just look at each other and there is some sort of desperation or tension between the two of them. So Nick keeps on walking until Offred can no longer see him. Then she remembers the day before her, Luke and her child tried to escape, the night in which Luke had to kill their cat, they got to the border but were almost inmediately caught, she believes somebody gave them away. Lastly she starts praying, just like Aunt Lydia taught her, and by the end she truly realizes how alone she is.

POVs

Offred: After finding out that the last Handmaid hung herself after Serena Joy found out she had a similar relationship with the commander, Offred will either stop visiting the commander or she´ll visit him more often, because she believes to have something against him. Although it´s important to point out that by the end of chapter 30 Offred feels very lonely, sad, desperate, and she is losing hope. But she´ll re-find that hope through Ofglen and the "rebellion".

Commander: The commander will likely keep on calling Offred and playing scrabble with him but he will start to give her information that she shouldn´t know, information that she´ll tell Ofglen, information that´s useful for the rebellion.

Serena Joy: Sooner or later she is gonna find out about the relationship that the commander and Offred have, but I am not very sure about what will happen after that. Which makes me want to keep on reading to find out.

Summary:

Offred starts wondering about the night when sitting down at the window seat of her bedroom, where she starts describing it as well as Serena’s garden with such details. But then, she realizes Nick is out there; both catch a glimpse at each other and Offred portrays what could be a romantic movement between them.

Afterwards, a flashback is shown; Offred’s remembering the day where Luke, her daughter and her were supposed to escape, as Gilead was already taking place. They weren't taking much to their "trip" as it would be too suspicious. But then, their cat seemed to pose a problem, as they couldn't give "her" away, so Luke decided to kill "it". Offren realizes that the cat died for nothing, as either the neighbor or the passport forger betrayed them to the authorities; but isn't sure as she doesn't remember the look on their faces.

Ending this flashback, Offred has decided to pray. She remembers the days at the Red Center when Aunt Lydia was very strict regarding the handmaid's positions during this sacred moment.

In contrast with the other handmaids, Offred was praying for her family's safety, instead of fertility. She acknowledges that God (You) didn't want all this to happen and imagines his frustration regarding her situation. Offred's depression and desperation starts showing; she doesn't know how to keep living as the bargain is too much for here, to a point in which she wishes God answers to her as she’s already thinking about commiting suicide by hanging herself on the closet hooks. She feels empty and that’s why uses the phrase “How can I keep on living” because she doesn’t know what else to do.

POV:
Offred's already evaluating extreme solutions to her handmaid's problem, which includes suicide. One of her main reasons to keep living may be the hope to see her family again, as also, what the Commander intended with their secret reunions; to keep her distracted so she would not hang herself.
At the end of chapter 30, she's already losing her memory and the hope to live. But, maybe her reunion with Ofglen in the previous chapters about joining the revolution would change her mind about the topic.
Regarding her relationship with the Commander, I think they will be getting closer as he's "satisfying" her needs in order to keep Offred alive; apparently, not in a romantic way, but a friendly one. But, Offred's foreshadowing that Serena is eventually going to find out about their reunions, which is going to lead to a worst relationship between Serena and Offred.

Summary:

Offred looks out the window at night. She sees Nick and feels an attachment to him that she is unable to act on. She is confused about her desire for Nick because she doesn't know what happened to Luke.

She recalls Luke killing their cat the night before they attempted to go. They couldn't take it or leave it to proclaim their absence.

She wonders who betrayed the family by turning them in. She has trouble recalling the faces of people she has lost and feels bad about it. She prays to God with these ideas in mind. Unlike the Red Center prayers, in which the women ask to be made empty and then filled with kids, Offred prays for help, forgiveness, and the strength to keep living.

POVs:

I think that Offred gains a better understanding of the mental process involved in inflicting another person's agony or death as a result of the cat incident. Because bringing harm to another creature requires first erasing its individuality. Offred's experience as a Handmaid echoes the experiences of the cat and the hung individuals with their faces hidden in this instance.

In the other hand, the commander will most likely continue to have contact with Offred, and tell her information she should not know. Serena Joy would find out at any moment about the commander's relationship with Offred. This detail make stay with the doubt, but it makes me keep reading this novel.

She remembers how Luke and her escaped from Gilead, how they had to leavo zero suspects so they didn't pack anything and unfortunately had to kill their pet. She then starts to pray as she remberbers how her Aunt Lydia taught her, her aunt was most interested in Offred looking "aesthetic" while praying, to llok like a Christmas card angel and wanted her to pray to be filled of grace, love, self-denial and babies. During this scape, they tried to disimulate that they weren´t living permanently, so they didn't packed anything at all, they leaved all ther belongings. Luke also thought that it was best to kill their cat, because they didn´t wanted to leave him starving to death, this would have been very suffering for Offred's cat, and also because they didn't wanted the cat to start meowing all around the place and rise some suspicions to people near, so Luke decided to kill him. But this never happened, because they were probably betrayed by someone, because they couldn't scape, posibbly by the person who sold them the passports, or the neighboors. Finaly Offred starts praying for the well being of her family.
POV:
I think Offred will carry on with her hopes to finally scape and be free, as all her memories are chasing her.
In the Commanders case he will continue to play with Offred, as he enjoys playing with her.
And in the case of the Commanders wife, she will one day found out about the incounters of the Commander and Offred.

Summary:
The chapter begins with Offred thinking about Nick and comparing him with Luke showing us that she is without hope of getting outside to see once again Luke and her child. After that she remembers the night in which with Luke they try to escape from what will transform into the regime. But there was a problem in their entire plan they forget about the cat, because it couldn’t enter by any reason to the plan because they will do as if they go to do a picnic. After this there are some solutions to do with the cat that Offred assume Luke kill her cat because he named the cat as “it” not as “she”, she even do not ask what happens feeling bad for her husband for having that burden inside him however when they were getting out they get trap and Offred knows they´re betray by someone that could be their neighbors or even the person who give them the passports. Finally that night Offred will not pray by obligation only y his own will because she need something to sustain her hope, becuase if not for Offred there´s no reason for living.

Our Point of View:
I think Offred will go through something similar as the handmaid who was with the Commander before her however at the same time Serena Joy even now probably knows their situation so she will wait until Offred give birth to her baby to produce a scene thinking Offed by all her problems will suiide but she will not and at the same time the Commander'll not do anything.

The chapter begins with Offred sitting by the window in her room after coming back from her meeting with the Commander. She starts reminiscing about the past, about the time when she tried to escape with her family. She narrates how they had planned to leave the country while they could, and how the night before leaving they realized the cat was a problem. Luke, her husband killed the cat and the next morning they left, supposedly for a day trip, but they were betrayed, maybe by a neighbor or the man who sold them the passports. She starts reminiscing too about her time in the Red Center, about the prayers they did. She decides to say her prayers, changing them to fit what she actually wants to pray for. I believe Offred will continue acting in almost exactly the same way in the next chapters. She’ll probably keep going to her meetings with the Commander, she’ll keep asking him to get certain things she wants, she will keep their arrangement in the same way, maybe a little more personal, since she now has more information. I believe the Commander will continue acting the same way as long as possible. He wants Offred’s life to be bearable to her, so he will keep trying to distract her and give her little gifts to please her. And Serena Joy will probably continue to act the same way, focused on her life, and the other Wives and her garden, unless she finds out about the arrangement the Commander and Offred have.

Summary:
Chapter 30 begins with Offred asking herself questions about the night and why it falls instead of rise. After a short time of her explaining where she’s at alone in the night Nick appears in the scene. Offred remembers the words of the commander as she sees Nick and relates the saying that one and one and one do not equal four, but instead they remain unique and can’t be exchanged, as well as saying that context is all. More into the chapter Offred begins to explain the night before her and her husband left the house, and how unprepared they basically were including how a cat caused them problems leading to Luke taking it away and probably killing it. She ends saying that they did in fact get caught but she never knew exactly why, whether it was from the neighbors or the guy that got their passports. Offred explains that every day it gets harder to remember Lukes and her daughter's faces for which she tries as hard as she can to hold them behind her eyes, and says that it’s her fault for forgetting too much. The chapter ends with Offred explaining that she has to say her prayers bringing her back to reality and out of the past. They obligated them to pray for emptiness so they would be worthy to be filled, but she prays for much more by herself. At least she expresses how bad it must be for God if she is also suffering. The last phrase makes us realize how badly Offred actually suffers including the feeling of extreme loneliness and depression.

POV:
In my opinion the main characters including Offred and the Commander are going to become way more intimate with each other as they are developing a different relationship than the one they already had since the beginning of the novel. Regarding Serena Joy i believe she will eventually find out and will probably develop a worst relationship with Offred causing many problems to arise. As for Offred alone she's likely to become even more curious after finding out about her predecessor and how she hung herself.

SUMMARY:
The chapter begins with Offred sitting at the window at night and seeing Nick in the garden, who sees her immediately while she is at the window. At that moment, Offred feels the sexual tension and desire between the two of them in the looks they exchange before she closes the curtains. Then, Offred remembers the night before her attempt to escape from Gilead with Luke and her daughter, and how they couldn't carry a lot of things because they couldn't look suspicious and they did not want to look as if they were leaving permanently. Since they couldn't take their cat, Luke took her to the garage and killed her. However, someone reported their plans to escape to the authorities, so their plan failed and his cat died of fun. It is only known that the person who sabotaged their plan could be a neighbor or the passport forger. In the end, Offred prays against the window and thinks that God probably didn't want any of this to happen. Offred considers the idea of committing suicide by hanging herself from one of the hooks in the closet.

POV:
In my point of view, I consider that Offred is going to try to find a new reason to cling and not commit suicide, perhaps she seeks more deeply the help of a superior force known as God, and maybe she will be constantly praying for help to be able to move forward and escape from that situation. Also, I have the idea that when Janine gives birth, Offred will begin to remember the happiness she felt with Luke when she gave birth to her own daughter, which could become a new reason for hope for her not to give up. I think Luke would go through fantasizing or thinking about another household chore due to his plan failing. On the other hand, I feel that Serena Joy would spend sitting in the garden as usual and i have the feeling that she is gonna find about the Commander and Offred. Also, Nick would have to make his secret sign with his hat to let Offred understand that the Commander would meet her at night as he usually does and they would play scrabble.
