The Yangtze river has much Cultural significance with the population of China. There is Cultural heritage throughout the river like along the three gorges section where the hanging coffins of the Lesser Three gorges, the cave of the travellers and the ghost city of the Fengdu are located. The upper reaches are home to the minority peoples such as the Tibetans and Naxi of Yunnan, who live in the remote mountainous areas. The Culture of the Sichuan/chongquin plateau and hubei plain on the Yangtze middle reaches are the holy Buddhist sites, the giant Buddha and Mt. Emei.
