My husband and I are international educators. I am a school counselor and he is an administrator. We moved to Cairo, Egypt in 2014 and fell in love with the people here. Before this we lived in Paraguay and Chile. We are originally from Bellingham, Washington. We have 3 amazing teens. Ethan (18), Bella (16) and Maddy (14), a pug, a bulldog and 2 fluffy cats. We love traveling, playing board games and meeting new people. Curious, adventurous and compassionate

I hope to continue spreading Positive Discipline around the world. I have been facilitating TP since 2012 and would like to empower other parents in our community to do the same. They are so passionate about it and continue to want to learn more! I have been blessed in my role as school counselor to also guide teachers in PDC. I would like to make a larger impact on our entire faculty by being a trainer and offering the 2 day certification to them and other educators in Egypt. This is very important to me since we may move in a couple of years (after our kids graduate). I hope to empower our local school community so that Positive Discipline becomes apart of the ethos and culture here ( with or without me in it).

My son will be leaving home this June and then my two girls will be close behind. Doing this important work gives me a deeper sense of purpose, which will help me as I transition into the next phase of my life.

I am so excited for this next step in my journey!

I grew up in Australia but spent 22 years in the US after I moved to Boston to do Montessori training. I met Olga there, who is from Puerto Rico. We've been married for 28 years now and moved back to Australia almost 8 years ago. Bella is almost 15 so finding a recent photo with all three of us is challenging! Olga and I are taking an evening walk on the beach, which is one of the pleasures of living where we do on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland.

Olga has described me as contemplative, playful and determined. I appreciate the ASD traits that help me get stuff done, and I am learning to modulate those too and have more fun in my life. I'm learning to surf and I also enjoy mountain biking and dancing at home with the lights out!

I work for Montessori Australia now and am using that peak body as cover to bring PD to parents and educators in this country. I am also developing Montessori training that better matches the needs of adult learners (ie. more online and self-paced) and would like to include PDC as part of this teacher education program. I also look forward to training my first cohort of TP facilitators in Australia so there are others doing this work here too!

I have facilitated many parenting workshops and am quite comfortable with these now. I do find it challenging to convince parents to pay for courses because of the common attitude in Australia that parenting courses should be free and that people doing this work should have a PhD! I get lots of interest in my free introductory sessions but I'd like to learn how to increase the conversion rate!

I have done some initial PDC work with educators because there's a lot of interest here since I've been doing PDC intros at conferences and online as part of my work with Montessori Australia. I have found educators a more fickle audience to work with because they sometimes see it as a work obligation rather than a choice to be there.

I'm especially keen to learn how to navigate that switch between modelling the activities for educators while also showing them how to facilitate the activities with children. That's a level of complexity that is not there in parenting courses. Knowing which activities to choose for PDC is also something I'd like to become more comfortable with.

Here's our family! Me, Tony, Loris (13), Talia (10) and Rowen (8). This picture was taken December 26th about 5 miles from where I grew up in the North East of England. It was a No-Go zone when I was younger due to social deprivation and unrest. This trip was a bit of a reclaiming and part of our long journey as a family.

Three positive adjectives for me - gentle, perceptive, creative.

I grew up in Washington Tyne and Wear, the ancestral homeland of George Washington's family. Part of my story is that my grandfather arrived in the UK as a prisoner of war, conscripted into the German army age 18 from the Sudetenland - the disputed area that "started" WWII. Consequently I grew up with a German surname in an area with few non-English names and experienced decades of racism and bullying as a result. I have lived in the South West of the the UK for several years now via London and Tacoma, Washington USA.

I like Mark, am uncovering, appreciating and navigating my ASD traits putting my music education into a whole new light!

As a result, I thought I wanted to serve sports coaches because I grew up in Youth Sport. However I forgot about the 25+ years music and arts work I have done and am now feeling my more authentic acceptance within community music and artistic and nature expression. I'm trusting the process!

I am very much looking forward to learning and growing with you all.

We are from Québec Canada. Christian and I have been married for 6 years but have been together for 16 years. We have four wonderful children who are developing Positive Discipline social skills. Simone (14), Marius (13) and the twins Arnaud and Edmond (11). We love to travel and go on adventures. We have lived in Shanghai, China for 1 year. We have traveled to Germany, Mexico, Hong Kong, USA and Spain, and we are hoping to be able to travel much more with our children. I enjoy hiking, being with friends and family and going to concerts. I love to learn and grow. We are passionate, empathetic and caring.

I came across Jane Nelsen’s Classic Guide to helping children develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation and problem solving skills while searching for tools to help me at home and at school in 2017. I was a teacher for 25 years and have recently been promoted to Pedagogical Consultant. I was able to experience positive discipline tools and principles in my classes as well as in other teachers’ classrooms. It was a revelation. I felt so empowered and positive about my classroom management that I could not stop there. I got certified as a PDC educator in 2018. I wanted to share my discoveries with my colleagues so they could also benefit from the concepts and principles. For 5 years I facilitated Positive Discipline in another teacher’s classroom. My experience has helped me grow and understand in a deeper way the PD principles and experiential activities. I also did The Art of Facilitating Positive Discipline and Empowering People in the Workplace. Last year, I put together a group of young workers in my former school. With the help of an educator, we gathered about 50 responsibilities throughout the school and we hired students for these jobs. At one point we had close to 100 employees. I wanted to help students feel belonging and significance and thereby demonstrate the effectiveness of Positive Discipline principles to my school community. It was a success. Even though I am not teaching this year, the project is still going strong and students are still engaged.

Being a pedagogical consultant, I want to continue to spread Positive Discipline throughout the school board. I am working with teachers and school principals and administrators. I accompany collaborative teams who get together to rethink their educational practices and collaborate in order to innovate. It has been observed that children have been challenging classroom management but teachers’ lack in new methods and approaches. I want to use my new position to influence in changing our old ways and introduce new methods and new approaches. I would like to be able to hold workshops for teachers in my school board.

I am really excited about the next chapter in my PD journey.

Kia Ora, 你好, Xin chào,

1. I'm Bec, and I am kind, warm, and thoughtful. I'm married to Caleb, who is in senior management in international schools, and we have 3 kids: Neriah (12), Levi (11), and Malachi (9).

2. Our passport country is New Zealand, but if you ask my kids where they are from they will answer 'China', and we currently live in Vietnam where we have been for almost 2 years. My husband and I have been international educators since 2010, having lived in Nigeria, Indonesia, China, and now here.

3. I have been facilitating parenting workshops since 2018, and have found it to be so rewarding. I love seeing parents have those AHA moments. I also love that I learn new things every time I facilitiate workshops - through the insights of parents, or by having new thoughts and new perspectives on my own. I also completed my ECE certification, so that I could learn new concepts to take into the classroom, and I have been asked to facilitate workshops with ECE teachers. I was often given 'tricky' kids in my class, and I discovered that these kids were not 'tricky' - but by increasing their connection and significance in the classroom, using PD, they were able to shine, gain confidence and leadership, and be a lot more cooperative (teachers always love this!). The teachers I worked with all agreed that the practical skills and concepts of PD that they learned was amongst the valuable professional development they have ever done. As a result of this, I have a newly found interest in supporting teachers. When I am certified, I would like to offer trainings to ECE teachers and kindergartens across Asia, as well as equipping parents to run their own workshops.

4.I love hiking, travelling, snowboarding, and connecting with people. I absolutely love reading and absorbing knowledge, and I love seeing the results of fostering respectful relationships in families.

Greetings from Santa Cruz, CA. This is my family--husband Nate, Grant (15), Jillian (12) and Lucy.

Adjectives that describe me are curious, hopeful and genuine.

I was a middle school and preschool teacher for over 20 years and after having my own children I was surprised about ALL the challenges and I needed a new way! I got certificated as an educator in 2017, which has changed our family's direction, and have been facilitating workshops, classes and anywhere people will listen to the word of PD. :-) I also do 1-1 coaching. I love seeing the transformation is families and parents feeling empowered and want to continue. I imagine also getting into schools and pediatric offices in the future.

I love anything outdoors--surfing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and exploring new places.

Doing the ACT has been on my list for a while. Looking forward to being with familiar faces and also meeting new ones.

Hi All,

My names is Aisha Pope and I'm a Positive Discipline Lead Trainer. I'm joining your cohort to assist your facilitators and help your ACT run smoothly. I'm so excited to learn with you all and maybe facilitate an ACT myself in the future.

I live in California USA with my husband of 23 years and my son Jayden, 18, and daughter Maya, 10.

I've been in the Positive Discipline world since 2008 when I took my first Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way training with Jody McVittie, and then a second one in 2009 with Jane Nelsen. I've been privileged to enjoy a mentoring relationship with some amazing Positive Discipline leaders for many years, including your two ACT facilitators! Dina Emser was one of the LTs who facilitated my own ACT in 2011.

Today I sit on the board of the PDA. I'm a Licensed Social Worker providing therapeutic services primarily to kids in foster care, and I enjoy facilitating TPs and PDCs primarily with agencies and schools. I'm also one of the authors of the Positive Discipline Tools for Kids with Jane Nelsen, Lois Ingber, and Mary Tamborski.

I’m originally from Northern China, and have been living in Beijing for 27 years. My husband is from the South, and he had 10 years of experience of studying and living in US. We met in Beijing and have been married for 16 years. We have two sons with 12 years of age difference.

This is the picture of my family. 14-year-old Chris and 3-year-old Leo. My husband Tony and me. The picture was taken in 2022 in a big snow day when Leo was literally a baby. He looks very much like a mascot of 2022’s Winter Olympic Games held in China.

The three positive adjectives I choose for myself is loyal, patient and hardworking. Recently, I have been re-thinking and working on my personal trait of “loyalty”. I wish in the future I can replace it with the word “flexibility”.

I have been in adult training and children education for more than 20 years. I used to run my own kindergarten for more than 10 years. But now I really enjoy my new role: a freelance educator, translator, and Parenting consultant for 3 organizations. I was certified in 2017, and have been regularly offering parenting lessons ever since. and I have done many online parenting workshops during the Pandemic. I somehow like this new online situation. I think to some degree, it made the impossible possible.

I am very grateful to have this chance to work and learn together with each and one of you in this ACT cohorts. I am excited about what I can learn from this journey.

I have been regularly facilitating parenting workshops both online and in person since 2017. I can see myself improving workshop by workshop, but I’m also aware that there is still room to improve, especially when working together with all the veteran Lead Trainers and experienced future trainers. They will definitely help me find some blind area in facilitation that need to be improved.

Expect for that, my curiosity and expectations also lie in the following aspects:

- How would I perform as a future trainer under pressure?

- What would I be like when facilitating in a second language. Will it make me less confident? Or I can gradually gain confidence during the process?

- What I can learn from each Lead Trainers? As well as from each and every one of my fellow educator/trainer friends in this cohort?
