Why is it Important to Have Different Types of Insurance?

- Life: "Life insurance is insurance that pays out a sum of money either on the death of the insured person or after a set period" (7.4 page 14). Life insurance is important because if you depend partially on someone else financially, and they die suddenly, you'd need some money to help pay for things, which life insurance gives you.
- Health: "You do not want to go without health insurance. If you go to the hospital for treatment and your health insurance will pay 80%, the treatment may cost your health insurance company $160 and you may pay $40 for a total of $200. That same treatment, if you do not have health insurance, may cost $500" (7.4 page 15).
- General: covers auto and homeowners insurance. Useful if you get in a car accident or something happens to your house, like a fire.
- Disability: provides income if you are unable to work due to your disability.

My Plan

I would have health insurance, disability insurance, auto insurance, and homeowners/renters insurance.
-health: I would have health insurance because first, its required: "Recent legislation has made it so that all Americans are required to possess some health insurance plan" (7.4 page 15). Secondly, I would have health insurance because medicine, hospitals, doctors, etc. are expensive, and I can't pay it without. I have many doctors, hospital visits, and medications due to my arthritis, and I can't afford all of it.
- Disability: I would have disability insurance because I am disabled. I have arthritis, which is already incredibly advanced, and I will likely have to be on disability at some point in my life, though hopefully not for a long time.
-Auto: I would have auto insurance because you never know when you're going to get into an accident, and although I'm a good driver, accidents happen. I would not be able to afford to pay medical bills, damage to my car (or another person's car), or any other expenses auto insurance covers on my own.
- Homeowners/renters: I would have homeowners insurance because it would cover loss of property, like from a fire, which isn't always preventable. If anything happens to my stuff, I'd want reimbursed so I can replace it.
