singapore overcame their security challenge by enforcing the NS. singapore had very limited armed forces and was vulnerable to external threats so they decided to make every male citizen serve the military, which increased their manpower and also quickly built up a strong defence. NS also deterred external threats during tense regional relations, promoted unity among different races and installed discipline and loyalty among singaporeans. this ensured singapore’s survival and security as a young nation.

The common market also encourages others of both countries to buy from each other, and when more and more people are buying from our market it will help boost our economy greatly. Having a good relationship with Malaysia is also good as we buy goods from them such as water, so having a good relationship will allow us to buy from them continuly.

This law resulted in a huge impact onto Singapore's security where their manpower has increased, having a stronger defense system. An example of a relationship that Singapore had is with Indonesia, Indonesia had a large population and were equipped with a strong defensive force. Singapore developed a relationship with Indonesia as during the Konfrontasi, Indonesia opposed to Malaysia where Singapore was usually part of and after the fall of surkarno and Indonesia shift in foreign policy this led to fostering a new relationship. Hence relationship with Indonesia can help with Economic by giving food, water and other essential resoures and Security problems as they have a large and strong armed force.
