The painting is kind of "messy" and looks old; it evokes a feeling of the passage of time.

Some parts of it are rocky while other parts look like they are covered in grass. I also like how the artist drew the small details such as the little black dots that represent trees or bushes when seen from afar or the birds at the top right hand corner of the painting.
I am impressed by how the artist drew the tree at the top of the mountain so intricately using a brush. 
The poem written in chinese calligraphy at the side, "何日君再来" which shows that the artist is waiting for someone to return. the shape of the mountain looks very realistic and i also notice that there are smudges on the mountains for a shadow effect which i think looks naturalistic.

i am also very impressed by how the person who painted this can be very detailed in their every stroke of brush. i can see the small little feature of the painting. even the painting of the birds at the top right hand corner are very lifelike. the wings and body of the bird is accurate and specific.

I like how the artist made use of colours to really emphasize on the subject of the painting. Even though only black ink is used, the artist dilluted the ink with water to make a lighter grey to paint the mountains, which further accentuate the trees and small rocks on the mountain, which is interesting to me. The inclusion of birds are a small detail but allow the person looking at the painting to really feel the liveliness and rhythm in the painting, and it makes the painting feel less still.
