It's a first person narrator, this can be seen from the following quotes:

"As i was saying"(p. 22 l. 14) and "I can see there might be a positive side.....(p.23 l.18)".

This gives a subjective point of view, since we only get to know what the narrator thinks and believes.

I was a stowaway.''

Claim: The narrator is sceptical and suppressed

Quote: “We knew where we were with Noah only in this one respect: that we never
knew where we were with him.” (p. 22, l. 11-12)

Analyze: The
narrator can never be too sure about Noah, because Noah is a drunken alcoholic and
he becomes a carnivorous – therefore he can loose his friends. Besides the
woodworm was never attended to be on the ark and is therefore always in danger.
The woodworm is an observer and because of his size he is able to experience Noah
and the rest of the Ark very intense.

A story can never be told objectively by someone who's involved in the story.

The
woodworm is an observational animal. He/she is very critical and negative, as we
see on page 23 lines 3 – 4. “How could a
drunkard possibly be chosen by God? I've told you — because all the other
candidates were a damn sight worse.”. The effect of the claim is that Noah
and Noah’s ark in general are characterized different from the bible.

The narrator wants to show the reader that the story we know about Noah’s Ark is not realistic.

“Remember too that we had the whole of the
animal kingdom on board: would you have put the cheetahs within springing distance
of the antelope?”

The quote shows
the bad sides of Noah’s Ark. It shows that the story we know where all of the
animals could stand side by side without any problems simply would not be
possible.
