Similar to the work on Brian Li we will be exploring the work of Fred Eerekens through experimenting with wire to 'draw' with and create interesting shadows with. Make sure that when using the wire you are exploring both line and space with your work.

Grades 2a-3
To push your work further try and create a shadow with your wire sculpture that writes out a word. This could be your name or a key word that we use in art. This is a very tricky process so start with just creating one letter and take it from there in baby steps.

With this extension task you are being challenged to take your work to the next level and create a response to the work of Noble and Webster using found objects and rubbish. Try and produce an interesting silhouette of a simple figure or animal, using a bright light against a clean background.

Grades 2a-3
Try and create a more elaborate silhouette with a large range of items. The easiest shapes to do are ones that are pyramid like in shape, so try and create a shadow with an overhang and wavy outline to show more skills.

Through this project you have explored the work of a number of photographers that use shadows in their work.
Over this homework task, set up and take a series of photos that show what you have learnt about shadows and photography. These photos should be exciting, of high quality and interesting in how they have been created.

Grades 2a-3
Not only should your homework photos be of good quality but you should also have experimented and edited these photos. Ensure you use editing apps on your photos to show your experimentation and refinement. 
The photographs you take will be inspired by the artwork of photographers you have studied in lesson. Grades 3-4
Add the final part to your three part research by creating your own photography study of Ubeda's work. This should be a photograph that you take were you try to recreate the image that the artist has created. (This will be very difficult but promotes great problem solving opportunities). Students are to look at the work of Anila Quayyum Agha and how they have used Gobo's in their work to create interesting shadow art. Using research into Gobos, create a simple Gobo design before cutting out the negative shapes with a craft knife from your card.

Grades 2a-3

For this session we are going to look at the work of Brian Li who creates artwork sculptures out of paper.
Play around with interesting shapes and structures to produce an abstract paper sculpture. We are then going to light it and take photos of the shadows created.

To push your work to a higher level think of the different shapes, lines and surfaces that you can create through just using paper.
