Hi everyone. My name is Andrea. I live in Long Beach Ca. and I work as an optician. I love cooking with my boyfriend, eating new, delicious foods, traveling, and watching Dodger games!
To me, psychology is a way in which we can figure each other, and ourselves out. It is way to dive deeper into how our minds work, and why we are the way we are. Psychology is about making connections with those around us in ways that go deeper rather than just having shallow relationships with others. Many times, it will offer us insights to what can make us better individuals for ourselves, and for society as a whole.
I tend to use psychology as a means to look at myself and see how I tend to function on a daily basis, and why I do function in those ways. I also find it helpful in understanding those I am closest to. I enjoy being able to listen to my family and friends when they come to me needing some help, and psychology is a major way in which I am able to offer some help to them, as best that I can.
One interesting article I found that would have to do with the profession I plan on going into is this one by Psychology Today.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/basics/relationships
The topic is how psychology can help a relationship grow and flourish. I would like to be a marriage and family therapist, and so this article is something that would be a good tool for me when working with couples.
