My imperative is servant leadership. I really feel like a leader must model all four imperatives of inspiring trust, clarifying purpose, aligning systems and unleashing talent but without a foundation of servant leadership the other four imperatives will flounder.
Dr. Cayce

My imperative is aligning systems. I believe this is the most important job as a leader because leaders are responsible for managing adults in such a clear, inspiring way that your school becomes a well-oiled machine, capable of maintaining it's success without you.
-Katherine

My imperative is servant leadership mixed with a collaborative leader. The mixture of the two creates a leader who is direct and hands-on; one who listens before acting, models what is expected, and communicates effectively while involving the team in the decision making process. Together, these inspire trust.
-Jamie

My imperative is clarifying purpose and setting clear expectations. I think that both of these items are under the communication umbrella that is so vital to being a good leader. This is the most important because it gives the staff and faculty a direction. It eliminates potential problems before they even take root. Nothing is up for interpretation because all expectations and purposes have been set from start of the year.
- Ellen Ives

When principals align systems, he or she is setting up opportunities for success among the school. This allows the principal to work with groups within the school to ensure the school goals, purpose, and mission are aligned.

This also helps tremendously in admin turnover. If systems are aligned, the school will run smoothly even without the previous admin.

-Tory

My imperative would be to build trust within the faculty by valuing each and every relationship. I feel that this is most important because without the trust of the faculty building an effective learning environment would be a difficult task. Establishing trusting relationships would allow teachers to feel valued and important and they would in turn give you their best efforts. People are willing to work hard when they trust that their efforts are valued.
-Brett

I fully believe that trust is essential in having an extremely valuable team that feels confident and competent in contributing ideas. Yet, I realize that members of the team may not always trust or understand the reasons behind my choices. Therefore, as a leader, I must help them see the importance of focusing on the 'why' or my motives for making certain decisions. - Tanya

Just like a new teacher in her first classroom, administrators need to align systems and procedures in order to make the building function effectively. It is difficult for some people to let go of power; however, empowering others is necessary when practicing servant leadership and will instill trust and purpose in your faculty.
- Kaitlyn Benavides
