Here are the responses for Task 1, which I was responsible for. This is still the first draft.

Art activisms have the same core as activism. They all are trying to call for the political, social or Enviromental changes. The only difference is the form of expression. Art activism is more combined art with politics and using art form to express the idea. For example, using performance art, installation art, street performance to call for the political changes.

Our team name all the relates to activism through asking ourselves three questions. What forms does it have? What example can we find? What changes is it called for? By doing this, we list all the relative words and line them together.

I felt activism play an important role in the improvement at the social, political and environmental area. Their action and efforts are making the whole world better. "I have a dream" speech, the speech that made by Martin Luther King Jr., is a great example of activism. The speech was call for the right of black, raising the awareness of the black unemployment and racism problem. Through activist and his efforts, the issue was able to be taken seriously.

I think the core idea of activism is good as it trying to bring people attention to the social problem. Yet, the ways to achieve its goal is controversial. There are some extreme art activists using animal blood and guts on their creation. Not everyone is able to accept this form of art. However, these are the extreme examples.

The core of activism is worth people to learn. Just like what William Faulkner (1965, cited in Mukherjee, 2021:2) said, “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion against injustice and lying and greed. If people all over the world... would do this, it would change the earth.” People should seek truth and solve the issue on different areas to make our world better.

Reflective Writing about the Using Experience of Canva

Here is my CRAAP infographic assignment. I finish it on graphic design website Canva. Actually, this is the second time of I use this software. I spend a lot of time o exploring it. I think the using experience is not very well as it hard to select the objects that I want. Therefore, I decide to try photoshop or adobe illustration next time.

Today I watch the Tate video of Tania Bruguera explaining her performance work, Tatlin's Whisper #5.

Theme and Method

The theme of Tania Bruguera's work is the experience of power. She is trying to let people dynamically experience the different stage of power in her performance work through giving people immersive experience and the interaction with police.

Impact on audience

Through the performance of the mounted police, the audience can be immersive in this event as part of their life while audiences receiving the orders from the mounted police. Difference to seeing the static pictures in the picture on the 1968 or 1935's newspaper, the audiences are able to have a dynamics experience of power.

My reaction to the work

I was impressed by her way to handling the experience of power as people only take it as a vignette in their life. I found it really fascinating because people won't take it as a represent of daily life and think too much. For me, I felt it was successful as Bruguera achieve her goal and audiences won't think too far.

I learn that feeling power in static way and dynamic way could be really different and viewer might think too far if they related the event with art. Besides that, I think artist Bruguera really well design every detail of performance.

Why do you think the Guerrilla Girls remain anonymous?

I think Guerrilla Girls remain anonymous is because of they want people to focus on the issue they expose, not on Guerrilla Girls themselves.

Furthermore, I think if they are not remaining anonymous,

it could be causing trouble in their daily life.

Through the work of the Guerrilla Girls, the problem has been exposed to the public. It draws people's attention to the issue and raise the awareness. And the most important part is that people start to change. Therefore, I think it is a successful and positive.

The Guerrilla Girls exposed the alarming statistics in the art world. I think the art world should stop the discrimination to female artist and colored artist. Museum should also increase the number of artworks of the female artist.

Theme and Method

I think the theme of Tania Bruguera work; 10, 148, 451; is making people to relearn to feel for others. In this project, she uses the interactive and installation art as she makes a large heat-sensitive floor of the portrait of Yousef. The whole project is combined with the people in the community.

Impact on Audience

Through getting to the community members while in the participation in Bruguera's project, the audience might be able to feel something and have empathy. And raise the awareness of the issue behind the stories.

My Reaction to the Art

Although I know the things that Bruguera done in the project, but I have a little bit can't connected with the global migration crisis. However, it is good that museum learning the community and viewer can relearn to feel for others.

I think I should do some research of the global crisis problem as that I can understand better.

Furthermore, today's lecture also solves my query about referencing images, such as referencing an image with no clear title or creator. I learned that students should give a simple description title and add further details in illustration in this case.

On November 15th assignment, I read the article about the artworks Dismalamd and Inside Pussy Riot. Dismaland is the theme park done by Banksy and 58 global artists. It is an apocalypse and anti-consumerism theme park. Inside Pussy Riot is the immersive theatre done art collective, Pussy Riot. Their work Inside Pussy Riot gives an immersive experience of the Russia jail life.

Similarity and Difference

Dismaland and Inside Pussy Riot are all make by a group of activism artists using their art to point out the social or political issues. The theme of these two works is different. Dismalamd have the apocalypse and anti-consumerism theme which points out social type of issue, whereas Inside Pussy Riot is a more political type of issue.

In addition, the type of art of these two works are different. Dismaland is more like an installation art as the article mentions that the park includes desolate Disney-like castle and a colorful pinwheel. On the other hand, Inside Pussy Riot is an immersive theatre as it gives the viewer the immersive experience of being put into Russia jail.

Inspiration or Inform

I decide to choose animal rights as the theme of my art activism project. While I am doing research of this topic, the materials I fund is not really related to art activism. Combine with the suggestion given by our tutor Jamie, I think I should research the activism artist that did the artwork first. Then, find out more about these artists and choose two good examples from it.

A lot of people give their viewpoint of the song and guess the meaning behind song. I think John Lennon is asking people to think about that kind of peaceful utopia world and pointing out the things cause war.

how does the song make you feel?

The song Imagine, gives me a peaceful feeling. It was started with the chirp in morning. Whole song is very soft. In addition to that the lyrics of the song are calling people to imagine a world with no heaven, hell, religion and country. This song calls to mind a singer and songwriter, Aurora Aksnes. I think her songs have a similar core as Imagine.

How do you think the world would be different without the things that Lennon mentions in the song (heaven, hell, religion, countries, possessions etc.)? Would it be a better place if these things didn't exist?

If the world did not have the things that John Lennon mentions, the world would be more peaceful and less war for there is less reasons to provoke war. I didn't think the world would be better if these things didn't exist as it is people instigate war by using these things as an excuse, not religion or countries themselves.

How does 'Imagine' qualify as an activist song?

The words in the songs asking people to imagine and think an ideal world. Furthermore, it addresses the things that causing war. Therefore, "Imagine" could be qualify as an activist song.

The song has proven quite divisive over the years. Some people see it as being a profound message of hope, and others view it as naive and idealistic; what do you think?

I think the intention of the song is great as it call for peace and address the issue. Indeed, it is a nice activism song. I personally really love it. The song asking people to think, seek hope and peace. However, the messages in the song seem like being over-interpreted. And sometime the song is being misuse. The song become a choice of people while want to express sorrow and lament. (Taysom, 2020)

Why do you think the song has stayed so popular after more than 50 years?

I think it stayed popular because of it been frequently mentioned and use as people.

Hi, here is my Power Point which I'm unable to show on class due to technology issue.

One thing in common is both painting shows a scene at nighttime. However, the characters in these two paintings are different. Nighthawks shows three customers and one waiter inside the bar whereas my painting only got one character standing on the roof.

Theme of painting Nighthawks have similar theme as Hopper other paintings. They all have a bit lonely, isolation, smooth and silence feeling as audiences are able to see through window with a touch of other people daily life but excluded from outside of the window. Different to painting Nighthawks, my painting seems livelier as the city in my painting having lights on with a worm colors. However, I trying to create one's jollification as the character amuse himself. Therefore, the color of buildings is cold tone with green and blue, and only have one character.

In addition, my painting and painting Nighthawks both using a cold and warm tone contrast. The warm brown wooden bar and the cold dark green look of bar give a strong contrast in Nighthawks. Similar to what Hopper did, I also make a strong warm orange and cold blue contrast on the building and lights of the city.

The social issue that I chose is animal rights. I do a simple research of animal rights activists, so that I can give a background information in my essay or min presentation.

I chose these issues is because of I want to know more about animal rights issues.

Grace Hussain (2021) state that all the animal rights activists share a same goal which is reduce animal suffering in the industries that animals take part in.

Many of them chose a vegan lifestyle as a kind of personal action to bring changes in of meat industry. Besides that, they also share vegan recipes on social media and open vegan brand restaurant.

Feeling and Difference

In these days, I did much research about the animal rights issues for the essay research. I found out lots of interesting facts. I like our pre-sessional English course. It's very practical and fun way to study whereas my home country's teaching style is relatively boring less independent study.

Besides that, a nice speaker also needs to slow down speaking speed and have a good pace. Usually, 150 words per min is great.

Finally, a good speaker also needs to remember to practice key word pronunciation and highlight the key word.

These are great advice of presentation. If I use these skills in my presentation and well prepare, I will give a good speech.

However, I think our city should create more public art for more different purpose which is not only for memorial or commercial.

I'm on my way home. I just finish my documentary shooting. It is the last day of taking documentary photograph for government propaganda efforts. When I passed pea picker farm, I saw many relocated families are starving as their crops been killed by ice and frozen temperature. A family setting under tent draws my attention. I took several photographs for them.

Evaluation Analysis

I was inspired by the woman's face and I trying to make her face as the only focus point in my photograph as I felt her face is able to tell stories without a word. I'm pleased by my last picture as I take several tries.

Analysis

I found it really fascinating because it showed the helplessness and confusion of a single mother thinking about their family's future in starvation and poverty. It was exactly what I had been hoping for, because these photographs are for public support and donations.

Outcome 

--------------------------------

Looking back, I now realize that keep trying to catch the feeling is a right thing to do. And I shoot a great photo. To make my outcome look more professional, I have to keep trying.

Reading Into Writing Assignment

Art can't change the world directly, but through making people think deeply and let people all engaging in the world. In nowadays, many activist artists are trying to change the world by using art to address the social or political issues and draw people attention. Olafur Eliasson and El Seed are one of them.

Olafur Eliasson not only directly provide sustainable lights for those unable access to light and energy, but also bring people from different part of the world engage and discuss with each other. Eliasson stated that art bring tolerant to one another as it brings people to share and discuss. On the other hand, his project also brought direct changes as those children in Africa had a solar power lamb. It is safer than the fuel-burning lamp or candle. And it didn't need to charge electric power which locals are unable to reach. There is no doubt that Eliasson use art to bring positive changes to the world.

Besides that, El Seed also used his calligraffiti rise people's patience from different cultures and bring people together. In 2012, Seed used a verse in Qur'an ask for individuals and countries being open minded and treat each other nice. El Seed believed that art creates beneficial discussion peculiarly in the case of the uncertain political situation. Through bring people to have a rewarding debate, El Seed's calligraffiti did make a change in the world.

In personal opinion, Eliasson's work, little sun, is more effective as it also brings direct changes. However, both work of Seed and Eliasson are successfully making our world better.

Reading Into Writing Assignment

Art is not meant to change the world, but it can make certain changes by leading people to think differently (Jr, No date). Jr is one of the artists who trying to bring such type of change to the world.

Through called for people participating in global art projects and stand for things people care, Jr's project Inside Out effectively bring changes to the world again. People are able to receive a vast print as they upload photo with describe of things people wish to do (Cadwalladr, No date). Jr stated it is a chance for everyone to share who they are and what they stand for (Jr, No date). There is no doubt that it is effective as the project draw people attention and more people start engaging the global art program.

The effort of Jr is undeniable, and people should actively participate in the global art programs and supports things that they mattered.

In today class, I made a presentation about my essay research inspiration and presented my design sketch.

Advantage

I did great research on the facts about the dairy industry, which is good as it provided the reason of doing my design.

Also, I make a good reference of photo in the slides with correct format.

In Addition to that, I highlight the important text in the slides, so that the audience can write down the important information.

Weak point

--------------------------------

However, I still need to practice few more time before I present it. I would have done better and spoken more fluently if I had practiced few more time.

Next, my pace of speaking is fast and lack of change on the tone.

Besides that, I have to control my presentation time as I was 5 min out of time. I think I should reduce some content.

Furthermore, I lack animation in the slides. The animation helps engaging audiences, so it's quite important.

In Addition, I lack eye contact with the audience.

Finally, I need to have a great appearance in front of the camera that make myself look more professional.

Improvement

Overall, I should reduce part of content of my presentation. Also, practices few more time, check the time and appearance in front of camera. I just added my list of illustration, bibliography and animation in my power point.

Classmate's Advantages

Some of my classmates use a very nice signposting language which make the structure of presentation very clearly and make audience engaging. One of my classmates make also make a catalogue for her presentation, I found that is really nicely and clearly showing the things going to talked.

Overall, I chose Lin May Saeed's work, Pangolin. It's an installation artwork. It made by an unusual material Styrofoam which remind people created such pollution and non-degradable material.
