What are some of the clues that Jem is growing up? One clue that he is growing up is him being more mature and respecting his Aunt more than Scout does because she is a child. Another one is him going to tell his Dad about Dill instead of not telling anyone about it because they want to have fun.

Unfortunately, Aunt Alexandra's concern over Scout's relationship with Calpurnia is justified in this situation. Although Aunt Alexandra is wound a little too tightly, she is concerned about the children's welfare because she is aware of what is going on with the case of Tom Robinson. Because of the general racism and bigotry of the time (and place), she is worried that the kids could possibly come to some harm because of the ill will associated with Atticus's involvement at the defense attorney in the case. She is worried about them being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I wish that it weren't that way because Calpurnia is more family to them than Aunt Alexandra is, but that is just the way that it was back then.

It was not normal to see a young girl and a person of color hanging out together, let alone with that person of color being an adult. Aunt Alexandra believes that it will effect the Finch family negatively, which is justified for the time set they are in, but isn't really morally the right answer.

Calpurnia was also the person that would watch over Jem and Scout when Atticus was not home. Aunt Alexandra was also most likely angry from the arguments that her and Atticus had.

She thinks that she won't teach her ways like she was taught. Which is not true because Calpurnia shows that she can still teach them the right ways because she was raised. She also feels that Calpurnia will make them feel differently about the Tom Robinson situation. Calpurnia is family to them and does not need to leave.

By trying to assert his control over Scout he antagonizes her and causes her to lash out at him. The two of them come to blows over him trying to boss her. The fight ended as quickly as it began. The two siblings are so close that they can't stay mad at each other for long.

Dill runs away from home because he wants that affection, so he ends up at Scouts house. My opinion on his solution is that he should have just had a talk with them about how he feels, not run 14 miles on foot and some on train to get that attention.

Aunt Alexandria is concerned about how the kids are being raised. She says that Scout should be getting concerned about shopping and boys soon as she is growing up, but she is not. She is also worried about the kids relationship with Calpurina and how it might effect them with there dad defending Tom Robinson.

Scout was mad because suddenly everyone seemed to be bossing her around more often, even Jem, who was going through some growth into a young man, had fallen on their side rather than hers now. She did not want to listen to Jem and did not want to understand why she needs to obey by Jem. Atticus ended up breaking it up and getting the children to bed as well as himself.

Explain the fight between Scout and Jem. Why did it happen and how did it end? The fight started with Jem trying to tell Scout what to do because he is getting older and feels he has the authourity to do so. Scout does not think of Jem like that though, because she thinks of him still as the brother who plays around a lot. So this causes them to fight. The fight ended when Atticus walked in and told them both to go to sleep at the same time which did make Jem a little mad. They both ended by telling each other goodnight because there two rooms are connected.

Scour didn't like that Jem was trying to act like an adult and tell him what to do. The reason Jem is going through such a hard time is because he is maturing, having growing pains, and is trying to figure things out. By asserting his dominance over Scout, he made things worse for himself. Scout didn't like that Jem was trying to be like an adult and be bossy, so she lashed out of him, causing the fight to break out. The fight ended with Atticus pulling them apart and sending them to bed early. Though, they ended up making up before going to bed due to the uncomfortability the arguing downstairs had caused.

Aunt Alexandra's concern about Calpurnia and Scouts relationship is very much so unjustified. Sure readers get at this time it is a danger or risk to be seen with a person of another color but it was unjustified because if Scout really wanted to go to Calpurnia's home she could go and find out why she would not want to go. Aunt Alexandra could have had the chance to let Scout correct herself by seeing whats it like but instead immediately closes saying no. Therefore Scout never will know why she can not go she will only know that she is not be allowed to go. So Aunt Alexandra's concern is unjustified because Scout needs to learn what it would be like to be friends with a person of another color to truly find out if that is what she wants to go through with.

He also "rats" on Dill by going to get Atticus when he discovers Dill underneath Scout's bed. This shows a level of maturity not previously seen with Jem. Previously, he would have just gone along with whatever Scout and Dill did and said, but he has matured enough to know right from wrong, so he consults an adult for help.

Dills problem at home is that he is not getting attention that he wants. With him being a only child he is use to getting all the attention around the house, but with his mom newly married this is tuff because they want to have some alone time and spend time as they just got married. Dill is struggling to understand this, because of him not getting as much attention anymore. Dill's solution is that they get a baby so more time will be spent around as a family. I think this is very immature of him considering he is getting older and needs to know that his parents should have time to themselves.

The fight between Jem and Scout happened because jem was simply telling Scout to back off and leave Atticus alone for a while. He stated that he was basically overwhelmed and had a lot on his mind. Scout didn't like the fact that Jem had gotten older and now began to act differently, and isolate himself from her. She thought that now since Jem labeled himself as an adult, that he could just make her do anything he says. Scout immediately disagrees with Jem and tells him he can't make her obey him if she does not want to. Atticus quickly breaks up the fight and tells Scout she can mind jem when he can make her and lets them off with a "go to bed".

Aunt Alexandria's concern about Calpurnia's relationship with Scout, is justified. Scout and Jem practically grew up with Calpurnia. She is the closest thing they had to a mother, and she taught them everything they know about manners, and politeness, but I can see how Alexandria could be concerned. Since this is set in the great depression times, it is not normal for a white child to be hanging out with a person of color, or for them to even be considering her as a parental figure. Alexandria seems concerned for the children, that Calpurnia may be a bad example for them, or that should could possibly even put them in danger. Besides all this Alexandria's concern is morally wrong, and I think she should trust Calpurnia more.
