Japan's Society was very organized. The top level of society was the emperor, then was the shogun the supreme military commander. The Emperor was more of a symbol and the country was really led more by the shogun. Then were the daimyo, powerful samurai that held land. Samurai warriors were after them, then finally the peasants and artisans and-originally- the merchants were at the bottom.

When the Portuguese arrived in Japan they brought a number of different things including firearms, clocks, and eyeglasses. The object that changed life for them the most was the firearms. Some daimyo took the firearms and trained groups of peasants on how to use them. Many of the Samurai kept their usual weapon, the sword and many of them lost their lives because of it.
