Being honest brings many advantages, one of them could be that through honesty you are able to create strong and meaningful relationships. Relationships revolve around trust, which can be destroyed with one single dishonest act. 
Secondly, when you are honest you create a good reputation for yourself. If you are known for being honest people are more likely to give you second chances, and will suport you in times of need.
Finally, honesty gives you inner serenity. There is nothing better than a clean conscience. Some people may scoff at you for being honest but other will appreciate your honesty and responsability.
