1.) How do we feel about this idea in a community like beach? Is Choi's message still valid?

Choi's message in this part of the play is very valid when brought into the Beach community. Beach is a place where theres a lot of strong relationships that help build a strong community. This is similar to how Appa made his own business and used his willingness to keep working to create a system for others that go into his store. There will be people that will rely on something familiar and still be loyal to Appa's store even if there were to be a new market, and this is because of the way his store has made a connection with the people that live around the area. Same thing can be said about beach and how it has a big impact to the neighborhood. The beach community has many connections through many generations of peoples lives, and thats the reason why the community has a sort of comfort and sense of home even with new things popping up in the community. This relates to how Appa has faith in the store because he has had many interactions within the store and holds many memories within in it so his passion helps him fight for the store and keeps working with it. This can also be found again in the community because people are very passionate about how far Beach has come and their will power will keep pushing for Beaches community to get nothing but upgrades, emprovement, and a bigger community.

2.) Who's the audience? Does the meaning change depending on the audience?

The audience can differanciate with the younger teen generation and or adults that are reading/watching the play. For example, asian families can relate more because english may have not been their first language. Then or they moved to united states to have a better life. On the other hand some viewers may not be able to relate because they were already born in the United States, and or english was their first language. The meaning changes when someone can relate to it rather than someone just being able to understand it. Especially with different generations different sides can see the menaing in a different way. If for a younger generations view they might side with Janet into following her passions and disagreeing with Appa, but then for older generations might side with Appa because he has worked really hard and the daughter should follow Appa's footsteps. Depeneding on what others see and feel there will always be a different way to see the menaing of the actual play and this id due to how people think.

Anikka Quote Analysis

Do you agree with the artists message here? Does it stand up in 2023? Does this linereally say what the artist thinks its saying?

I don't really agree with the artist because this is racial stereotypes. This would become a big deal in 2023 because everyone is against racial streatypes espcially when one minority group is streaotyping another. Then also the author is make assumptions based on skin color and the way they look. Which in the play is really risky but Appa still was right about the stealing, but Appa could've spotted it in another way. I think the author knew what they were doing because they wanted to shows others perspectives of the characters. That quote can also cause a lot of miscommunications towards characters because its a sensitive topic to bring out and judge upon. Like how Janet tries stopping Appa but they get in an argument. Then also the time when Appa was judging multple sensitive topics and streotyping them. In reality theres always a better way to solve something and come to a resaloustion.
