Gregory Heffley's  family decides to go on a road trip, leaving him hopeless in what he is supposed to do. When their credit cards and clothes get stolen, things start getting crazy. Gregory was stuck in a stupid rut along with his family.  But when a pig joins the ride, he doesn't even know what could happen next. Along with the family getting lost, smelly foot contests, and of course, Gregory having to listen to learning Spanish music discs. But all that doesn't stop him from having a good joy ride.
