Sometime during the election, a break-in took place at the Watergate Hotel in Washington (Democrat Headquarters), which lead Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein to accuse Nixon of being responsible for the break-in. Nixon, after forcing the resignation of three of his advisors, was exposed by John Dean (one of the advisors) for being involved in the cover-up of the break-in and having tapes where the matter was discussed.

EPA: The agency was created on December 2, 1970. The agency was there to protect the environment and people from health risks. They conducted research and enforced environmental regulations. This was important to Richard Nixon because of the ineffectiveness of the previous laws.

-In 1972 Nixon made a visit to China to gain more power over the Soviet Union. This was also an attempt at driving the communist powers further apart. Nixon's visit to China ended up being incredibly important as the US needed diplomatic ties during the Vietnam war. This visit was also what lead to the current trade ties between America and China.

-Legacy- Richard Nixon's time in the White House was revolutionary while being incredibly controversial. He saw America achieve the first manned moon landing in 1969 and only a few years later in 1973 signed The Paris Peace Accords, officially ending the Vietnam war with America losing. Richard Nixon's presidency ended when he resigned in 1974 in response to his impending impeachment. He is the only president to do this. -- Only president who was not elected. Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned from office, and President Richard Nixon appointed Gerald Ford to be his new vice president. Then, Richard Nixon resigned from office, so Gerald Ford became the actual president.

-- 3 major events during Ford's presidency:
     -- Spiro Agnew and Richard Nixon both resigned because they were accused of corruption. When Gerald Ford became president, he immediately pardoned Nixon, which was very controversial.
     -- He survived 2 assassination attempts, both by women.
     -- He was the first US President to visit Japan.

-- Gerald Ford's Legacy:
     -- He is forever remembered as the "accidental president."
     -- He became president during a difficult time and helped to fix the situation. He restored honesty and decency to the White House, and both parties aprreciated him.

In 1982, Carter established the Carter Center to promote and expand human rights. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in co-founding the center.

*Clinton presented himself as a moderate and as a member of the New Democrat wing of the Democratic Party.
* Clinton was the second American president to be impeached. Clinton was being sued by a women named Paula Jones for sexual harassment. Jones later on asked Monica Lewinsky, an intern from the White House to testify. Lewinsky had told a friend of hers that she was having a relationship with Bill Clinton. Lewinsky and Clinton both denied having an affair under oath. A man by the name of Starr suspected that the president had committed perjury and impeded any justice in the Jones trial. Starr gathered a grand jury, and made a deal with Lewinsky. She soon testified that yes, indeed, she and Clinton were having sexual relations. Clinton denied it all once again but later on confessed. House prosecutors wanted Clinton to be convicted and removed from office because he committed perjury and impeded any justice in the Jones investigation. Lying under oath is a crime. The House of Representatives voted to impeach Clinton in 1998 but in the Senate trial, Republicans fell short of the two thirds majority needed to convict.

George Walker Bush was president from 2001-2009 and during that time he has made a name for himself with not just being the president but also leading the charge to bring the victims of 9/11 justice . 
Following  the tragic event of 9/11 George w bush reassured to the grieving u.s nation vowing in his own words saying "make no mistake the united states will hunt down and punish those responsible for these cowardly acts. In the days after 9/11 he looked at the damage in Washington and New York and directed Military and civilian response efforts . After this he made many efforts to comfort the nation with visiting ground zero and giving words of inspiration and ,personally meeting the family members of 9/11 victims . despite the attacks the u.s grew stronger with people returning to work taking pride in the u.s George w . bush had successfully helped a nation find peace after a tragic event.
 
Bush was seen as a man of the people putting u.s citizens well being over his own.
