Truman wanted to warn Japanese that he was dropping the bomb in militarized zones, that they could save lives by surrending. Japanese didn't accepted and the first bomb dropped in Hiroshima in August 6th, 1945. Three days later, another bomb dropped in Nagasaki. Even though Truman didn't want to drop them in places with children or women, both bombs impacted in places with children and women. Some said it was a revenge for Pearl Harbour, others to show the Soviet Union of what they were capable of.

After the bombing, soviets broke the nonagression pact with Japan and invaded Manchuko and Korea.
