         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the act:</strong><br>The Proclamation Act was intended to keep peace between the Native Americans and the new settlers. Therefore, the settlers were not allowed to go  west of the Adirondack Mountains.<br><br><strong>Why did the British pass the act?</strong><br>The British passed the act to make sure that there was separation between the colonists and the Native Americans.<br><br><strong>How did the colonists react?<br></strong>Most of the colonists ignored the act and passed through the lands anyway.<br><strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the act:<br></strong>The Stamp Act was forced on colonists to pay a tax on every piece of paper used.<br><br><strong>Why did the British pass the act?<br></strong>The British passed the act to help pay the cost of troops. These troops were to be stationed near the Appalachian Mountains to insure that no colonist passed through. <br><br><strong>How did the colonists react?<br></strong>This caused the colonists to start protesting and form groups like the Sons/Daughters of Liberty.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the act:<br></strong>The Townshend Act was<strong> </strong>to raise money in the colonies to pay the governors and judges so that they would remain loyal to Great Britain.<br><br><strong>Why did the British pass the act?</strong><br>The British passed the act so the governors and judges would stay loyal to Great Britain. The British did this because not all the colonists were loyal so they had to pay the trusted higher class.<br><strong><br>How did the colonists react?</strong></div><div>This act made the colonists very upset so protests turned out to be deadly riots.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Quartering Act of 1765</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Explain the Act:<br></strong>The Quartering Act forced colonists to supply housing and food for  British soldiers at any given time.<br><br><strong>Why did the British pass the act?</strong><br>The British passed the act in response to the increased costs of British defense. The British wanted to save money by having soldiers stay with the colonists.<br><br><strong>How did the colonists react?<br></strong>This act caused the New York colonial assembly to be censured by Parliament because they refused to house British soldiers. This caused violent behavior by the colonists and harsh rebellion.</div>]]></description>
