“5G race” 

• The connectivity of 5G will make businesses more efficient and allow consumers access to more information faster than ever before. 

• U.S is not leading in the “5G race”. 

• Huawei has the ability to outspend the U.S. in building and investing in 5G technology by themselves without outside support. 

• U.S is afraid that China would have access to the national information through Huawei.

• Worsening the ongoing trade war and causing the increase in tariffs.

• The united states has increased taxes by 25 percent on 200 billion Chinese good. China refused to import the soy from America.

This Economic conflict began in March 2018

(On March 28, 2018) the US puts sixty billion dollars tariffs on China's imports expanding over 1300 categories

Some of these categories included aircraft parts, batteries, flat-panel televisions, medical devices, satellites, and various weapons

 (April 3, 2018) China fires back with a fifty billion dollar tariff on U.S goods 

(April 4, 2018)Trump reveals plans for 25% tariffs on around $50 billion of imports from China

(June 15, 2018) China answers back with plans to put tariffs on about $50 billion of U.S. imports. 

(July 10, 2018) The United States sets an effective date of July 6 for a 25% tax on $34 billion of Chinese imports. 25% tariffs will also kick in on an additional $16 billion of goods after. China responds with tariffs on $34 billion of U.S. goods. 

(July 10, 2018) The US reveals plans for 10% tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports

(August 1, 2018) Trump gives orders to the USTR to increase tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports to 25% rather than the original 10%. 

(August 7, 2018) China puts a 25% tariff on $16 billion of us goods after the US released a list of $16 billion of Chinese goods to is soon to be subject to 25% tariffs. 

(August 23, 2018) Tariffs on goods appearing from the Aug 7 lists of 2018 from the United States and China take effect.

(September 7, 2018) Trump threatens tariffs on $267 billion more of Chinese imports

(Sept 24, 2018) The United States implements 10% tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports. The administration says the rate will increase to 25% on Jan. 1, 2019. China answer backs with $60 billion tariffs of U.S. goods.

(Dec 1, 2018) Trump leaves the tax at ten percent rather than 25% on $200 billion of Chinese goods. 

(May 5, 2019) The Trump administration gives China formal notice of its intentions to raise tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports to 25% from 10% starting May 10, 2020 

(June 18, 2019) Trump and Xi spoke on the phone to settle the conflict ahead of the G20 summit 

(June 29,2019) The G20 meeting begins. China and the United States agree to restart trade talks. Trump agrees to no new Tariffs and to ease restrictions on Huawei. China agrees to new purchases of US farm products. 

(Aug 1, 2019) Complaints made by Trump that China had not followed through on a promise to buy more U.S. farm products in wake of this he announced 10% tariffs on $300 billion worth of Chinese imports along with the 25% already levied on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods.

• The Telecommunications equipment company Huawei became involved

• Canada became involved after they followed orders from the US to extradite Huawei's CFO 

• US companies that do business or have interest in working with Chinese companies 

• An example is Google not being able to do business with Huawei
