Stories exemplify how to use vocabulary to the readers thus they create contexts for vocabulary. Stories help us see the real life use of vocabulary. The words vibrate, shake and tremble have the same meaning but they are used in different contexts. For instance, a telephone vibrates, one shakes his/her hand and one trembles in fear. These words cannot be used interchangeably. Stories help us comprehend such differences. Also, stories are fun to read; that's why they encourage learners to get focused on the lesson.

Repetitive words in a story can be easier to memorize for a young learner.
Stories are an effective tool in TEYL. Stories allow the learners to improve their vocabulary, imagination, and subconsciously learn the correct grammatical structure of English. The fact is without stories young learners will have trouble understanding what is being taught. By using stories in a young learners class, a teacher can take a topic that is difficult and through the use of stories, simplify it, and bring the topic to a level in which young learners can understand it more effectively.
