Estates General Meeting

May 1789
King Louis XVI
Recently my country has been getting into serious financial problems. I'm not quite sure how this has happened. Maybe it's because I helped fund the American Revolution so much, or because my wife and I live such a lavish lifestyle. but I seriously needed to fix this. I decided to call a meeting of the Estates General. I got the idea from my financial advisor Jacques Necker. This was the first meeting of the Estates General since 1614. My great idea for the fixing of France's financial issue was more taxing. I decided the 2nd estate a little, and also increase the taxing on the 3rd. Members of the 3rd Estate such as Maximilien Robbespierre. I felt very threatened by their radical views, and I really hope they're not plotting something against me.

Tennis Court Oath

June 1789
Abbe Sieyes
Today was supposed to be the day that we, the third as estate, were supposed to meet with the King and the other two estates. We were not happy of the fairness of the Estates General Meeting. Our vote only counts as one even though we make up 97% of the population, how fair is that! Days before today, the 3rd Estate, some noble, and some clergymen voted on the creation a National Assembly. It took king Louis took a couple days to respond to this, but he finally did by calling a royal session. When we all came to this "royal session" the doors to the meeting room were locked. This made us all very furious, but we were not gonna give up so easily. We moved to a different room which happened to be a tennis court. We all pledge we would remain assembled until a new national constitution had been drafted and implemented. The King was on his last strings with us. He really messed up this time by completely disregarding us. Our Oath is the start of something much bigger. We're not gonna give until we got the equality we deserve.

Fall Of Bastille

July 1789
Jacques Necker
Today has been a very eventful day. First I was fired from my role as financial advisor of King Louis. All I ever wanted was to give the people of the 3rd estate a voice. This ultimately lead to my dismissal. Second, the King had ordered some of his royal troops to patrol the streets of Paris. This lead many Parisians to believe the King was going to attempt to over through the newly leaglized national assembly. Both this and my dismissal greatly angered the people of Paris, and they started a mob. They stole 38,000 muskets without gunpowder, but they knew exactly where to get it. They charged towards the Bastille, murdered the guards, and stormed the inside stealing all of the gunpowder it contained. Then what used to be a symbol of terror for the people of Paris was now being teared by those same people. This is the first act of violence that I have seen from these Parisian people. Though I do not condemn revolution, I see it already starting with this act.

October 1789
Marie Antoinette
Today was one of the most scariest days of my life. A few days ago my husband and I threw a grand party at my luxurious home in versailles, but it all went down hill after. I woke up to massive angry crowd of mostly large women and some men screaming at my my husband. They had many weapons such as pitchforks, knives, and even muskets. All I could hear them chanting was "bread". Eventually they were calling for me, so I came. I was being constantly harassed and threaten by the angry mob of women. They were the scariest group of women. They proceeded to beg for bread, and threaten me with their weapons. They were also screaming at me and my husband to move to Paris. When my husband was hesitant to say yes, they murdered my guards and stormed into my palace threatening to kill me. Louis and I grabbed our children and proceeded to escape to Paris where we now reside.

June 1791
Leopold II
There is a major political crisis happening in France. My sister Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI have lost control of their people. Louis has always been a weak King but he has really lost control of his people now. There has been so much violence, changes in the government, and radicalism Louis can't handle it anymore. Last night Marie, Louis, and their children tried to escape here to Vienna. I told them once they made it we would fix this situation immediately, and Louis role as absolute monarch would return. This all would have happened if they made it, but a series of unfortunate events occurred leading to them being caught and sent back to Paris. They were only a mile away from the boarder if Vienna, it is so tragic. This does not end here though. Louis's power will be restored. I will not let the people continue to revolt, and the ideas of the enlightenment will stop spreading. Absolute monarchy should stay as the form of government, and I will not let the Parisians influence the people of other European countires.

April 1792
Duke of Brunswick
King Louis XVI of France has failed us. His country is in great turmoil at this point in time. They have started a revolution that Louis cannot stop. He went from being an absolute monarch to being a monarch with no power or say in how his country is ran. This image of revolution is terrible for the other countries of Europe. I don't want my people to learn from these people, and the people of the enlightenment. This gives king Leopold and I no choice, but to take this into our own hands. We have decided to end this revolution ourself. We will starting sending our troops to invade France. There's no way these revolutionaries will stand a chance against our armies. We will end this revolution, and France will be restored as an absolute monarchy.

January 1793
Maximilien Robespierre
Finally this day has come. A true start to our freedom begins today. I have wished for this to happen for a very long time, and now I have finally watched the end of monarchy with my own eyes. Our previous King was put on trial for treason. Not to my surprise he was found guilty. Though many wanted to spare his life, it was eventually decided he would be killed. In my eyes I believed we must kill for the revolution to live on, and thats exactly what happened. Louis was sentenced to the guillotine for today January 21st 1793. Once his head was chopped off, a sense of relief was sent over France. We will no longer abide by the unfair rules of a monarch. Today, the revolution lives on.

September 1793-July 1794
Georges Danton
France was in a vulnerable situation during the war against Austria and Prussia. We needed to win this in order to finally become a free country. Our new Committee of Public safety decided to enforce a emergency government during this time. We put all of pervious new laws of equality aside and decided to rule the country with terror. The idea was to scare anyone who was not with the revolution. Anyone who acted against it would be put on a quick trial, and sent to the guillotine. The leader of all of this was no other than Maximilien Robespierre. Hundreds of people were killed, and many new changes were made. Robespierre and many others did not like Christian, and started to dechristianize France. Any thing that had to do with the Christian religion was abolished in France. Me and my Girondin people did not agree with this and many other acts during the reign of Terror. Once we, the Girondin, started voicing our opinions, it all went down hill. Now, it sit here in my cell, awaiting the death that many had died from during this reign of terror, the guillotine. All I regret in life is that I am going to be killed before Robespierre.
