1. The Genre of the story is kinda a mix of realistic fiction and historical fiction because the events in the story could actually happen and the character aren't real. I think it is historical fiction too because the events in the story could've happen in real life in the past and I agree with Kristian and Christina about the Genre.

2. The setting of the story is on the ranch and also in the Coyote School.

3. The author's purpose is to entertain us because the story is not persuading to do anything or it is not informing us about anything so it is entertaining.

1) The genre of the story is historical fiction because took place in 1939, and I knew that because I read the dates of "Coyote News" and it all said (Month, date,) 1939.
2) It takes place in a ranch, and I'm guessing a ranch is like a town or something, and it also takes place in school.
3) The author's purpose was to entertain, and I know this because it tells us about Monchi and what he and his family do throughout the year until Monchi is out of school.
(What I Noticed)
I noticed that this was a Mexican story, and I didn't actually realize it said "folk songs" in it, so I'm guessing this also might be a little folkish...?

The setting of "Coyote School News" is in Pima County, Arizona, I know that because on page 214 the news says at the top, "Stories and pictures by the students of Coyote School, Pima County, Arizona."
3. The author's purpose is to entertain us with a story about Ramon Ernesto Ramirez's school year.

I think the genre is realistic fiction because, They could actually have a news paper for the school, and have parties. The setting of the story is in Mexico on a ranch called "Rancho San Isidro" It also took place at a school some of the time. The authors purpose is to entertain us about a boy who writes about school news.
