The importance of this quote is it shows the fear Macbeth holds over the fact the other half of the prophecy said that Banquo would be the father to a line of kings. He fears that he went through all these traumatic moments only to have his crown handed right over to Banquo. And knowing the first part of the prophecy came true, he fears what will happen with the second half.

Importance- he is using a metaphor to describe his guilt. He is saying his mind is full of scorpions meaning he is becoming corrupt and realizing what he has done.

Importance: Macbeth is trying to convince himself by hiring assassins, he was free of guilt. He doesn't to be accused of murder. The guilt has made him insane. the guilt overtakes him mentally. If he kills Banquo then is will become worse so thats why he hires them.
