Cherry Shrimp are small freshwater invertebrates native to Taiwan. They are popular in aquariums because of their bright red coloration and algae-eating habits. They grow to about 1–1.5 inches long. These shrimp are omnivores, eating algae, biofilm, leftover fish food, and specialized shrimp pellets.

They are hardy and adaptable but do best in stable, clean freshwater with a pH between 6.5 and 8.0. Their ideal temperature range is 72–78°F. Cherry Shrimp are peaceful and make excellent additions to community tanks with other non-aggressive fish. They also breed readily in good conditions, producing tiny baby shrimp that feed on biofilm.

Image of the Fish:

I chose Cherry Shrimp because they are colorful, peaceful, and easy to care for. They add activity to the aquarium without creating problems for other fish. To support them, I picked live plants and driftwood for hiding and grazing, a sponge filter for gentle cleaning, and stable freshwater conditions with a heater. These choices keep the shrimp safe, healthy, and able to breed naturally.
