If you travel around the world, you won't always encounter the same "flavour" of English: there are many dialects and accents. Its words sound like a mixture of French and German, however English doesn't use the same sounds. It also changes constantly and new ways to express yourself are created daily.

English is a language which is very widespread over the globe. The language has several other languages which influenced it over time such as Norse, French or its Germanic roots. All these influences make it harder to spell words correctly so that is for learners a challenge. On the other hand, many people pick it up for their job, education or even just for travelling. Therefore, English is a langauge which is at the same time influenced by other languages nowadays. Example: My best friend's father is Indian and his English is quite different from the one I've learnt.

I would describe English as a very fluent and melodic language, there is this kind of "flow" you hear while other languages seem to be "choppy" and have a distinct rhythm.

However, especially compared to german it's a very soft language.

The sound of the English language is soft and melodic. It's very easy to "imitate" english, once you heard a bit of it. For example, as a child I pretended to speak English, without knowing a single word - just by imitating what I heard in songs, interviews, in the TV and hearing my parents speak English.

Also, English is present everywhere in our lives and for a big part of world's population the L2. So when meeting a random stranger from any country, mostly English is THE tool to connect with him / her.

English is a language made up of sounds formed by shaping your mouth and vocal cords, using letters that combine to create words. The way people speak can be slow and formal or fast and casual, depending on the situation.

Culturally, English is spoken around the world and has absorbed words from many different languages. It’s flexible, always changing, and can express different emotions or meanings depending on tone and context. Overall, it’s a tool for connecting people, sharing ideas, and communicating across cultures.

The rhythm of English is often described as having a natural pattern of stress, where certain syllables in words and certain words in sentences are emphasized more than others. This gives English a kind of "musical" flow, though it's not as rhythmic as some languages like Spanish. Instead, it's more like a natural rise and fall in tone, creating a balance between soft and strong sounds.
