         <title>An Explanation of the ICT Activity </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the planning of this lesson, as written in the lesson plan above, a variety of different ICT activities have been included. Throughout the different stages of the lesson plan, the aim was to include ICT where it seemed to fit in comfortably with the flow of the lesson and against the outcomes and objectives of the lesson. In orientation of the lesson, I chose to include a KaHoot Online quiz to assess students previous or prior knowledge of the topic. Students are given a random code to allow them access to the quiz. They then complete the quiz on iPads or laptops. This is a fun and interactive way of assessing students previous knowledge of the topic and is a convenient and reliable way to collect data, as all of the results are emailed out to the teacher.          <title>An Explanation of the ICT Activity</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Whilst planning this lesson, I wanted to included an array of different ICT activities as this engages students in the topic and it allows for different learning styles. Another one of the ICT activities I wanted to include is a YouTube Clip. I chose to include this clip as it is a really powerful resource. It allows students to understand exactly what the concept of Hygiene and Safety means as they have to visually identify the different issues and hazards in the clip. The students have to type out all of the hazards they see by identifying what the woman is doing wrong. This YouTube clip is a great resource for teaching students the hygiene and safety rules in the kitchen. They must then answer the present the information from A-H in a creative format.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The reason and purpose of teaching this lesson is to inform students and make students aware of the responsibilities they have, hazards they need to avoid and hygienic work practices within the food technology kitchen. This lesson is aimed at introducing students to safety and hygiene in the kitchen space. Students are introduced to the concept of hygiene and safety through a variety of different ICT activities throughout the lesson. The online quiz Kahoot provides a fun and engaging way to assess students on their current knowledge and on their gained knowledge throughout the lesson. As it provided the students with multiple choice answers to a simple question, it provides a basic platform for students of varying ability levels. Kahoot as an interact ICT activity is effective in engaging students at the start of the lesson. In teaching students concepts they need to remember, I believe that visual learning is extremely effective in helping students retain information. This is why the YouTube Clip and Mind Map have been included. The YouTube clip gives the students a visual interpretation of the content. The students are able to understand the content on a more personal level as the woman in the clip adds a human element and allows the students to connect with the information. The lesson allows the students to delve into why hygiene and safety is important in the kitchen and around food. Students are able to investigate the content through engaging, interesting and thought-provoking ICT based teaching strategies. </div>]]></description>
