Australian Food Selection Model: Australian Guide to Healthy Eating

The intention behind creating the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating is promoting good dietary choices for Australians in order to improve their general health and minimize diet-related ill health. In this guide, several key food groups such as vegetables, fruits, grains, proteins, and dairy are represented as a pie chart that can be seen. It is also important to mention that images of foods from all categories are used in order to make it more attractive, and to persuade you to follow the guide.

Food items are grouped on the basis of their nutrient content and how they contribute towards a healthy diet. For instance, grains provide energy while proteins aid in muscle repair and growth. One of the strengths of this model is its simplicity—it's accessible for people of all ages and literacy levels. However, one limitation is that it does not account for individual dietary needs like allergies or certain intolerances which might make it difficult for some individuals to stick to these guidelines directly.
