The goal of the challenge was to build a complete model of a spaceship from a minimum amount of items. After we had our model built we had to drop it from 2 feet, 4 feet, and 6 feet. While we were dropping the model we had to have 2 marshmallows inside of it. If one fell out it counted as 50% success. If none fell out it would be 100% success. Although if both fell out it would count as 0% success.

The people on Team Potato Monkey's all had different ideas. First we had the idea to stick index cards around the bottom for support. Then we decided to go with "plan B". As shown towards the side, the model that we decided on. We stuck the cup on the cardboard square facing upwards. Then we put marshmallows on the bottom. Finally we cut a straw in half and put a half on each side, with the rubber band holding them around the cup.

We planned a model that would stay strong and not fall apart when we dropped it. We made sure that our model was very sturdy. Below in the diagram we also got a straw and rubber band. Since on the model was our original plan we also got, a straw and a rubber band. We also only got one index card.

We created a model that would definitely stay together when we dropped it. We put tape, a cup, a cardboard square, a straw, 4 marshmallows and a rubber band in our model. I did stay together with some minor adjustments. With the thought of the height it was going to be dripped from, we made a successful model that did well during the drop itself. As shock-absorbers my team put 4 mini marshmallows under the cardboard square, on every corner. We did this for a more capable safe landing.

We improved our model several times. We had to add extra tape three different times. Next time we will make sure to check and see if the tape is sticky enough to be used as a sturdy support item. We will also not waist any money at all. In this model we did not even need a index card. We wasted money on that. Instead of wasting money on things that we don't need we could have saved even more money for tape. Just to make sure that our model stayed together at all times.
