It means more expenditure on consumption and a further fall in already low savings and consequently in the level of investment. The effect of population growth can be positive or negative depending on the circumstances. There is a straightforward relationship when identifying the sources of economic growth: Growth Rate of gross domestic product (GDP) = Growth Rate of Population + Growth Rate of GDP per capita, where GDP per capita is simply GDP divided by population.]]></description>
