Economically they were not much active or productive in the trade networks but they consistently promoted international commerce. They also provided financial backing for caravans, gave tax breaks to merchants, and introduced standardized weights and measures. 

Culturally the Mongol Rule provided a cultural exchange of peoples and cultures. The Mongol Policy transferred thousands and thousands of craftsmen and educated people from their homes in specific parts of the empire. Also, the Mongol's religious tolerance and support of merchants drew traders towards them. This should be accepted as a credible source because it shows how the ruler of the Mongols, Genghis Khan, made incredible changes in society such as smashing the feudal system and creating a new and unique system. Also being considered more "marriageable". But no one knows how disease spread at first. The Black Death hit Europe in 1347, while the Mongols did go to Europe from 1220-1240 they didn’t get far because of Ogedel Khan. He stopped the Mongols and made them retreat.
