Teaching Goals

Goal 1. To improve communication and academic reach to our children who have been diagnosed to be on the Autism Spectrum.

Goal 2. To find out what are the best strategies to use with students who show oppositional defiance. How to address the students who just freeze and scream, those with communication delays, or tantrums rather than say what is problem. Language impairments abound in my classroom.

Goal 3. To Use small groups to record data for skills acquisition and to assess learning transfer and assess their depth of knowledge. At first I listed my needs. Now I know I will use the ideas from the book in hopes that I will improve relations in the coteaching setting. They are listed below:

Goals for teaching:

1.We will implement the engagement strategies this year to foster a culture of each one teach one daily, comradery daily.

2.We will use Bank Time to make time for positive reinforcement with students. (Target 4 students each week)

3.We will infuse the CLASS structures into the Phonemic Awareness lessons to build relationships, analyze student perspective and promote Language Modeling, which is a CLASS strategy, to improve student communication daily.

Co Teaching Goals

1. We will share responsibility for talking to parents via Class Dojo , notes home or, phone call.

2. We will “Partner with Para”- Acknowledge and show gratitude for all that she does: small group lessons and storytelling, maintaining the potty-training schedule and reinforcing the positive behavior. During Highlight of Our day will offer reflections on daily accomplishments.

3. We will engage in long-term unit planning three times this year.  November, January and March

The meeting agenda focuses on behavior management, the lesson and its structure, and parent contact to inform of student progress daily before we leave so we are prepared for the next day.

I look forward to implementing shared teaching structures.

I learned to implement the 5 Ps of team work - Pausing, paraphrasing, putting ideas on the table and to pursue a balance between advocacy and inquiry. Two of the seven norms I used previously. Phew.
