It is a family name and very old fashioned. I am named for several of my mom and dad's favorite cousins. 

My mom was going to name me a different name, but was worried that it would be spelled wrong and no one would say it right. This is funny because not many people are able to spell my name correctly.
 
My mom calls me Margarita is a sing-song voice when she happy. She does this because she just loves Italy and all Itallian things. My older brother calls me Maggie and he is the only one I like to call me this. 

My friends in college called me "Mags" and I was not really a fan.

Kathleen is my middle name.  My Aunt Katie's formal name is Kathleen.  

My parents wanted to honor both sides of my family with my name, so they picked Kathleen for my middle name after my Aunt Katie.

I get my name from my mom and my dad. My dad's name is Matthew. When my dad was little, his sisters would call him Matty. My mom's middle name is Lynn. She gets this name from her mom, my nana,  Carolyn. My Nana's family calls her Lynn so she named my mommy Andrea Lynn. My mommy wanted to include Lynn in my name as well.
She joined "Matty" and "Lynn" together and made Madilynn.
Sometimes, people call me Maddy, but I like to go by Madilynn. I don't mind Maddy sometimes because that is what my daddy was called.
A lot of people spell my name wrong because there are so many ways to spell it.
