Kaz, the leader, doesn't share his whole plan and leaves the rest confused. Matthias and Nina are either ignoring each other or arguing every day. Wylan and Jesper don't seem to get along very well and things are tense between Inej and Kaz. They still all agree to be allies at the very least as this heist requires trust. Jesper and Wylan are busy trying to work the mechanisms of the prison's alarm system. When the group tries to leave they encounter a snag in their plan when the alarm system doesn't work exactly how Matthias has described it. They fight soldiers and try to make it out, but they are greatly outnumbered. When they are about to give up, Inej, Nina, and Matthias show up with a tank and their prisoner. They escape the prison, but come across trouble again at the harbour where their boat was waiting for them. Nina, a grisha herself, takes a drug called Jurda Parem, which makes her powers ten times more powerful and she fights her way through to the boat. Jan Van Eck scams the group out of their money and takes Kuwei and Inej anyways.
