• Complete LS4.1 based on Unit 4 Stellar Reader.

• iPW (Total time: 60 min): As a class, using questions words with interrogative pronouns, craft questions for the interview with the guidance of the teacher. Pupils should write out the chosen questions in their iPW booklets and underline the question words Teacher will choose 3 – 5 questions to ask the guest.

• iPW/ ALP – Conducting an interview (slides). Recap skills taught during Making Conversation (ALP CEP 1) lessons.

• Teacher to select pupils to ask questions and note-takers to write down answers. Teacher to facilitate session for the class.

• At the end of the session, get the class to thank the guest.

• Ask pupils to reflect on the answers and how the information may help them craft their problem statement for iPW during their Social Studies lessons.

Objective: To encourage pupils to take responsibility in looking after the school environment

Outcome: With the solution proposed by the group, pupils in AMKP should be able to

• Recognise the key message the solution is conveying

• Understand the expected behaviour for the chosen location

Deliverables:

• The solution (for the chosen problem) to be made.

• A class presentation to be done in T2W10 to explain the solution.

b.     Read Big Book for Unit 3: Milly’s Home. Use discussion questions and perspective taking to get pupils to understand how human actions affect the environment.   

• Conducting environmental observation to gather data about the cleanliness of the school (Ties in with SS Inquiry Approach – Gathering Data)

• As a class, identify which is the main idea.

• As a class, use any example to craft a supporting idea.

In their groups, ask pupils to think about how their product will help remind AMKPians to keep the school clean. Ask them to think of 2 – 3 supporting ideas and write down into their iPW booklets. (20 min)

In their groups, ask pupils to decide their order of speaking. Depending on size of the group, pupils should decide on order of presentation. (10 min)

A possible format of presentation –

a.     Introduction of group

b.     What is their product?

c.      Objective/s of their product

d.     Reasons why they chose this format

e.     Reasons why their product will help remind AMKPians to keep the school clean.   

Based on the group’s written consolidation of information, each speaker will now write out his/her own speech using their respective iPW booklets.  (20 min)

Guide groups in doing peer editing of script. (10 min)

Pupils to re-write their script based on peer feedback. (15 min)

Insert iPW booklet for students to draft their script. Final script to be added to the class padlet.

• Teachers to highlight how the Talk Moves should be used within iPW group discussions.

In groups, pupils will complete their product. Note: If groups are unable to complete, they will still have another 2 hours on 21 May (Tue) to complete. All group products must be kept safely in the classroom.
