Firstly, my group and I have provided the google form for the foundation students to analyse their recycling habits around the campus. We figured out that most students do realise on the importance of recycling, but they do not have any suitable place to put and separate their waste for recycling around the campus. Therefore, as part of our project, we provided the recycling bins with three different forms of waste as mentioned around our mahallah for about a week. We collected the waste afterwards and it surprised us on how much waste we got from the students and that also marked as a good participation in promoting the recycle campaign among students. We sent the waste to the recycling centre nearby and they gave us some credits as an appreciation for encouraging the recycling practices. This is aligned with SDG 12 that we chose that is to achieve environmentally sound management of all chemicals and all waste throughout their lifecycle. 

From this simple recycling project that we conducted, I personally realised that it is extremely crucial for us not just in realising the importance of the recycling, but also the action that we took to achieve the realisation. Recycling sounds simple, but it gives tons of benefits to our mother nature and can change the world to a better place. Not just that, recycling project for me is a fantastic way to educate students especially about the environmental impact of waste. It typically reduces the amount of waste going to landfills creating a better environment and conservation. I can say that, if humans do not realise and act on this recycling as one of the crucial things in life, then eventually, we are the ones who are going to suffer. My recommendation is any sustainable project should be conducted as one of the approaches towards a sustainable earth, environment, and nature so that it aligns with all the SDGs provided by United Nations in achieving a better and healthy lifestyle for future generations. Hence, let us start doing our part and join hands in any sustainable projects that come across in our daily life so that we can all together achieve to live in the world with sustainability. By doing so, we can always experience productive lifestyle, healthy environment, and better mother nature. Alone we can do little, together we can do so much.

 

During the installation of the light, we asked for help from technicians as they are more credible and expert in this process so that we get a more effective installation. Not just that, we have also conducted a fundraiser and spread it widely via WhatsApp before implementing the project as for us to buy things that are required during the installation process such as extension wire, timer, and cable tight as well as payment for the technicians. We also got some advices and guidance from the Mahallah Principal for his approval towards our project. This light will be turned on depending on the timer that we have set which is from 7 pm at night until 7 am in the morning. This can reduce the used of electrical and payment for the electrical bills. This leads to a more affordable lighting as the mahallah department does not have to bear high expenses in providing more lights to students and to the mahallah community. Our project as well aligns with SDG 7 which is Affordable and Clean Energy that focuses in providing a more efficient, sustainable and clean energy around campus as they are cost-saving and more practical especially for our future. 

 
In conclusion, my group and I carried out this project is to bring lots of benefits towards the residence of our beloved mahallah both now and in the future. This also helps in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal specifically SDG 7 for a better mother nature for the next generation. Therefore, let’s together we achieve these sustainable goals provided so that we can have a brighter, and healthier sustainable future not just for ourselves, but for our beloved earth. Alone we can do little, together we can do so much.
