November 18, 1919: Hindenburg Spreads “Stab-in-the-Back” Myth

When World War I ended, German military officials including Hindenburg spread the “Stab-in-the-Back” myth. This myth blamed socialists, communists, and specifically Jews for ending World War I. This made German citizens look at Jews as their enemies also known as the “they”.

April 7, 1933: Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service

In 1933, the German Government issued a law which excluded Jews from working in the government. Later on, a new law would be made disallowing Jews to become lawyers. For a certain time, Veterans from World War I who were Jewish were still allowed to work in the government, though this law soon segregated and restricted all Jewish people.

April 25, 1933: Law Limits Jews in Public Schools

During this time period, many schools were overfilling. The Nazis solved this problem by restricting Jewish people to go to public schools. This law segregated Jewish people and made many frustrated.

1933-1941: Mass Emigration

October 1941: Germany encourages immigration

The Nazis officially announces that Jews should leave Germany. The Nazis tried to force Jewish people out of Germany by segregating them. Although the Nazis wanted the Jewish people to leave, there were many taxes that made emigrating expensive.

March 3, 1941: Krakow Ghetto Established

The German authorities announces a new ghetto in Poland. This forces about 20,000 people to live in these boundaries, separating them from the outside world.

July 10, 1941: Hidden History: Establishment of the Kovno Ghetto

Due to the segregation, many Jewish people resisted in quieter forms. This forced the Germans to put the rest of the Jewish population into a ghetto in Lithuania. During this time many secret photographs and diaries were made to resist the Germans. This gave historians much information of the Ghettos across Germany.

May 20, 1940: Auschwitz Camp Established

With the increasing resistance of the Jewish people, the Germans created concentration camps making Jews slaves. One of the first concentration camp was the Auschwitz Camp which worked and killed many Jewish people. With this new camp established, many Jewish were sent to this camp.

August 20, 1941: Drancy Camp Established

The Drancy Camp was a concentration camp where foreign Jews were put. Foreign Jews were captured here and placed here temporarily. Eventually these Jews would be moved to camps like Auschwitz which would work many Jews to death.

October 29, 1941: Massacre in Fort IX

The Germans were slowing losing WWII and the Soviet Union was inching closer to the Jewish Ghettos. This resulted in the Germans murdering about 9,200 Jews in Kovno creating a rise for more mass murders.

Early 1942: “The Final Solution”

As Germany began to have more control of Europe they developed more ways of killing Jews. This included gas chambers and dangerous police killing Jews whenever they want. This resulted in many deaths resulting in at least 6 million deaths.
