How did it get there? The stands are right behind home plate because these are the best seats. The dugouts are to each side of home plate so that players can easily step up to bat. The baseball field is the typical size and layout with the outfield behind the baseball diamond. 

The role of this region is to unite people and to create a fun sport experience. The transition zone  for both of these location would be the pathway that is in between them, which also happens to lead the varsity field. 
If you look on the left side you see the fieldhouse (The building to the left o the tennis courts.), the baseball field, and the path in between it.
