In my work I really follow two rules:1. Let people choose. Even when the choice is slow, or different, or not what other people expect. For me, when a person says “I want this,” that moment is important.

It means they trust me enough to show what they really want. I don’t ever want to break that trust. 2. Support with relationship, not control.

In my placement at CCHS, I learned this again and again.

One day in baking class, the students were getting bored of colouring. They looked kinda frustrated and restless. So I said, “Hey, do you wanna try Kahoot? You can pick the theme you like.” They got so excited, like their whole mood changed in one second.

I don’t think I need to be perfect in this field. But I try to be honest, patient, and warm. I try to listen more than I talk. Sometimes I would make mistakes, but I still keep learning, don't blame myself so much.

Besides, I want people supported to feel safe with me. Safe enough to say “I’m tired,” or “I don’t get this,” or “Can we do something fun?” Safe enough to show their true self, even the messy parts.

So my Personal Philosophy Statement is: Your voice matters, your choices matter, not your diagnosis, not the system.

I hope I can always be the kind of worker who protects that. And I hope I never forget to stay kind, stay open, and stay human.
