we dont know if we have actually discovered his body. It is likely he died in his 17th year of his reign. It is suggested that the skeleton found in the valley of the kings is his but we don't know if it his his body that we have discovered.

After his death, Egypt went back to its traditional religion. His monuments were dismantled and his statues where destroyed, he was basically stricken from the record.
