It seems very easy to start using student created "Tweets" to have students sum up their understanding of the lesson. This way, students practice clear, concise writing, review the material, and the teacher can glance over each one quickly to measure student understanding.

I think in order to keep up to date with computer-based assessments, we need to ensure that students are taught the necessary skills (how to navigate websites, apps, assessments on the device). I also think that assessments that have students regurgitate information need to be changed, because with all this technology students can simply look up an answer using the internet. The switch to project-based assessments with regular feedback may make the curriculum more suited for the 21st Century.

Both of these tools are designed to help make videos engaging and present a more visual platform for content. I have not used either before, but they seem similar to Edpuzzle, except on Explain Everything you can easily make your own video content that students then interact with. Playposit gives students instant feedback and both allow you to obtain data in live time on student understanding.
https://explaineverything.com/
https://go.playposit.com/

We use eDoctrina in 6th grade math as an assessment tool. This is an all online program and allows for the students to prepare for their state exam. It allows for students to get their answer right away if it is all multiple choice. I love this program and so do the students.
-Cindy

I currently use thumbs up/thumbs down a lot, but using emojis in the chat would be a good idea for the kids that don't like sharing on screen.

I also totally agree on the project based learning. I think we need to have more webquest type assignments where they can explore safely and productively.

The 5th graders I taught last year loved gimkit, it was a much more fun way to practice their multiplication facts. I also have used flipgrid a few times, which is an easy way for kids to record videos of themselves and be able to watch and comment on others. I had 2nd graders reading books on flipgrid, which they loved.

Writing assessments are becoming more computer based which means students need to learn how to type efficiently. I worked with a student who struggles getting his writing down on paper therefore his teacher wanted me to try a computer based approach. We used jamboard and uploaded the assignment that the rest of the students were doing. He did much better and was able to get his thoughts down. She wants to try to do speech to text next time for an even more efficient approach since he is not quick with typing yet which slows down his writing.
