There should not be a limit to the number of children a family has, even in countries where populations are reaching a critical point. Families should not be forced to limit the number of children they have. They should have the right to have as many children as they want.

The world's population is growing at a rate of about 1.13% each year. China and India are the two most populated countries on Earth. Both countries' populations are at almost 1.5 billion. China had a one child policy, which was removed. Now there is a two child limit, but if a family wants another child, citizens have to pay taxes for the extra child. India has considered limiting the amount of children families can have. India's current population is around 1.3 billion, and it is growing at a rate of 1.2%.

Although population rates are increasing, taking away a family's right to choose the amount of children they want to have is unethical. Putting a cap on the number of children a family can have would be taking away a clear right from families. It is a personal decision, and allowing the government to become involved in personal matters is not a correct thing to do.
Ethos: It is describing how it is unethical to put a cap on family size. It makes the reader consider whether it is right or wrong.

When China instated the one child policy, there were negative effects. People became upset because instating this was human-rights abuse. The gender gap also increased due to families wanting boys rather than girls. They could only have one child. The number of boys was greater than the number of girls. For every 100 girls there was 125 boys, a ratio of 4:5. It also had an effect on the economy. It had a specific effect on the housing market and the workforce. China'a 930-million-person workforce decreased tremendously and is continuing to decrease. The housing market experienced a crisis. Because families only had one child, they inherited everything, including houses. Prices for homes in cities were high, but everyone already had houses to live in.
Logos: It provides facts and same numbers about the negative effects of China's one child policy.

A cap on the number of children families can have could also be an emotional struggle for families. If there was a two child limit and a mother has triplets what is she supposed to do? The government would prevent the family from keeping their third child. This is their child, the mother and father may already be attached to the child. The government has no right in causing families pain. A two child limit would mean the mother would have to give up her child. A child who is a part of her family.
Pathos: It describes emotional pain that could occur if a cap on the number of children a family could have existed.

China's one child policy caused women to suffer. The one child policy caused a gender ratio imbalance. Families did not want a girl as their only child. Female babies were aborted or killed so families could have a son. Women were not respected. Because of gender imbalance and the preference of males occurring more due to the one child policy, sex trafficking of women became a large issue. Women were kidnapped and traded or sold causing these women to go through emotional, physical, and mental suffering. Putting a cap on population could lead to suffering like China's one child policy lead to.
Pathos: It describes suffering women went through because of the one child policy.
