Vladimir Lenin led the Bolsheviks “One of the Majority.” He created this group to build up industry and overthrow the government. Tsar Nicholas II was the last monarch of Russia, he ruled from 1894 until they removed him. The Bolsheviks redistributed land and tried to create a society of socialist values.

AMERICAS, OCTOBER 1929 - THE GREAT DEPRESSION

The investors of 1929 expected rapid price increases for the assets they bought, causing prices to become inflated as a consequence. This, with excessive borrowing and lack of order, led to the stock market crash and the rise of the Great Depression.

The Great Depression was the most severe financial crisis in modern history. Banks failed and wiped out savings of everyone who deposited money. People lost their homes and farms, this led to poverty and suffering.

GERMANY, JANUARY 1933 - ADOLF HITLER APPOINTED CHANCELLOR

Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany in 1933 due to electoral victory by the Nazi Party. He is most known for his horrid views on Jewish people, black people, etc. Altogether, 40,000,000 people have died from the events orchestrated by Hitler. He ruled completely until his suicide in April 1945.

AUSTRIA, NOVEMBER 1938 - KRISTALLNACHT

Kristallnacht, the night of November 9th to the 10th, in German literally translates to "Crystal Night." The name refers to the debris of broken glass left in the streets after the attack.

On this night, German Nazis attacked Jewish people and property. 250+ synagogues were burnt down, and the fire department did nothing to stop it. Over 7,000 Jewish businesses were trashed and looted. Jews were murdered, Jewish cemeteries, schools, hospitals, and homes were looted. Some violence continued into the 10th of November, in other places it continued for several more days.

EUROPE 1939 - WORLD WAR II

After becoming chancellor, Hitler quickly made himself "supreme leader" in 1934. He was obsessed with being superior of the “pure” German race, Aryan. He believed that war was the only way to gain living space for the German race to expand.

Adolf Hitler orders Germany to invade Poland looking for that land to expand. Britain and France, allies of Poland, declare war on Germany. Over the next six years, this war took more lives and destroyed more land and property than any previous war.

SEPTEMBER 1945 - END OF WWII

The Allied forces were a group of four countries, Britain, the Soviet Union, China, and the United States, working toward a common goal. The Axis powers were Germany and Japan.

The Allied fought hard and stormed Hitler’s bunker. With the entire country occupied and with their leader dead, this forced Germany to surrender in May 1945. After the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, Japan surrendered too, bringing the war to a complete end.
