Architects were looked down upon by people of other disciplines. There was the fear that Architects may no longer by useful in the future. There was also a generalisation of Architecture as some buildings were designed for the sake of it. Engineers also began to emerge from the shadows of architects.

According to Le Corbusier, one problem Architecture has is to do with the idea of architectural 'styles'. New young architects are too often taught about styles as if they were well-defined and you could pick the one you prefer to build in. A big mistake is, he says, taking young aspiring architects to Rome to learn about classical stylesInstead, a style should generate spontaneously, without any label attached to it from the beginning

Corbusier discusses a lot the relationship between health and architecture. He mentions ‘tools’ in a literal sense, that it is what is used to construct the building (so a bad tool must be replaced). But he also talks about the building as a tool in itself for better health and well-being. He describes men as living in houses which they have not yet adapted to themselves. Then he writes that houses should ‘affect our senses, and reward the desire of our eyes’- they should be ‘satisfying’ and in a way heal us emotionally. He relates the house to wellbeing in a mental and physical way. The spaces around us should not just be a space to inhabit, they should have a profound effect on us; on our emotions, our health, our wellbeing.
