After this the Jarl awards Reverend Samuel Parris with being known from now on as the "Nord of Whiterun". Along with this are weapons only the Nord would own. He rushes out the door as though to hold back his fate. Proctor! Proctor!”(Act four pg 134). The italics directing the way the actor needs to visualize for the audience leads to an obvious assumption that Parris believes his fate will be ruined if Proctor is hanged.
