1. Eye Position & Shape

Function: Eye position determines how much something can see. The eye shape can let you see more or see more detail easily.

How it changed over time: The eyes have gone from big and facing forward making Froakie see less in not a lot of detail, but over time the eyes spread out allowing more vision and the eyes have gotten smaller leading to being able to see more detail.

How the change is good: Froakie couldn't see very well at the beginning of evolution but now it can see stuff very well especially at high speeds which is this Pokemons specialty.

2. Webbing

Function: Webbing allows faster movement in water as well as more control of direction.

How it changed over time: Froakie used to not have any webbing at all but slowly got it over time.

How the change is good: Froakie is a frog and needs to be able to swim fast which is what the webbing is for.

3. Tongue/Bubble Scarf

Function: The scarf keeps the frog warm in cold areas as well as protects it from smaller threats

How it changed over time: The bubble scarf changed from a scarf to a tongue because the Froakie can now defend itself without the scarf the tongue can be used to attack.

How the change is good: Froakie can now attack at long-range with its tongue and can swipe at stuff without getting close.

4. Legs

Function: Froakie's legs can be used to jump high and far quickly.

How it changed over time: Froakies legs went from really good at jumping to good at running and jumping.

How the change is good: Froakie needs to be fast and agile which at fist it couldn't do but now can.
