2 to 3 million people of Burmese origin living outside their home country today. Due to the protest to the military in 1988 , economic and health system collapse, and surging poverty and food insecurity happened. Then the immigrants number uprise and many fled to neighboring Thailand, the largest destination for Burmese migrants. Malaysia is the second-largest recipient of Burmese migrants and followed by other Asia Countries like China, Japan, Singapore and Indonesia. Most are Kayin ethnic in Thailand and also Kachin ethnic immigrants to America and settled since the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Most of them migrate for the purpose to get a job and to gain better civilization.

Positive impacts of Myanmar diaspora community to Myanmar people are development in economic and political issues and good networking ( e.g Taipei welcome Burmese new commers, typically short-term students or businessmen trained in Taiwan to develop cross-country commercial networks). But negative impact is the identity crisis which can cause ethnicity conflicts in Myanmar.

That is how the Myanmar diaspora started organizations to help the migrant workers and students to get the services provided by the government and to solve the migrant issues. And they actively promoting their culture and heritage for the identity crisis issues.

Unsurprisingly, the key challenges for diaspora organizations are funding and resources, as well as access. Many organizations operate on a voluntary basis, necessarily limiting the time available from their members. For diaspora organizations supporting the civil disobedience movement, providing support can be particularly dangerous, especially when using Hundi and communicating through underground networks.

As the coup happened in 2021, an organization called ' Myanmar Campaign Network' which is an Australian national coalition, comprising human rights organizations, international aid NGOs, Myanmar diaspora organizations, trade unions and faith-based organizations. Their aim is to aim is to work across Australia to support the reinstatement of democratic civilian rule in Myanmar. And their priorities are to create campaigns which can make aware of the current Myanmar political situations and to upload daily news for all the Myanmar diaspora around the world.
