Damadian was too large for the scanner when he tried to be the "guinea pig" for it. Instead, they had to use a skinnier test subject named Larry Minkoff. Also, Damadian fought and won long battles over a patent within the legal system. When his grandmother died of cancer, Raymond was very sad. When Damadian was planning for college, he had to choose between the 3 loves of his life: violin, tennis, and science.
